It's referring to the fact that Ioan and matthew are alumni of the National Youth Theartre of Wa;es and they were both in a film version of the Mabinogion (2003). Ioan voiced the character of King Bendigeidfran, an ancient Welsh king, while Matthew plays a disenchanted, young Welsh boy who travels to Y Mabinogi (Otherworld) and finds himself caught up in an ancient legend. Needless to say, it's a Welsh language film.
They were both in Donner which is a Welsh Language animation also. Has nothing to do with the mention, just with the two of them working together for Welsh Television.
Annee, this interesting article caught my eye too, but I'm moving it to the Wilde section, as it is actually about John Gray himself, inspired by Mathew Bourne's new dance drama, based on THe Picture of Dorian Gray, opening at the Sadlers Wells Opera soon. I'm going to try and see it - it sounds fascinating!
:The General:
Not too sure exactly what this is, annee, but I agree with their sentiments!
I think that Matthew and Ioan are not high enough on the list, but alas, but what really stuns me GARETH DAVID-LLOYD on 25?! How can do they do that to Ianto? :tsk tsk:
I'd like to see them both rated higher, too. And yes, Lanto should be higher than 25.
Irony, annee, irony! (okay, not very clever irony, but irony all the same  )
I second that vote,my Mate!!
While I love HH, I have a hard time coming up with a favorite. I just watched Solomon and Gaenor again and love that performance (and film), I feel the same when I watch KA or Happy Now or AG or Great Expectations. Sure there are a few weak films in his resume like 102, but that is typical of most every actor out there. It's also a very difficult thing to judge whether or not a film will be good or bad just from paper, especially when a project has been green lit by many executives and the other actors and director seem of high quality. It's all a gamble.
Ioan has palyed such a wide variety of roles (though I'd still like to see a really dark villain) that I agree it's hard to choose a favourite. It much depands on my mood and which muse I'm in search of!
Yes, this was one of Ioan's favoured charities - a worthy cause indeed!
Seems like it's one of several that Ioan has donated to over the year's. The shirt he designed for donation to a charity. The one for his friend who was injured in a sporting accident. The paintings he bought to benefit injured soldiers among many others. Promoting the Esteidfodd and that new film festival. It does seem that he picks very personal causes to donate to and many involve Wales.
Just a snippet from the article on Mattie's hols in The Times this week.....
"I shared a flat with Ioan Gruffudd in Kilburn, northwest London, and he was the same. He kept his sword from Hornblower by his bed at night; once, I came home late unexpectedly and he almost clobbered me with it. Our Boys’ Own caper was working on a ranch in Montana. It was a boyhood fantasy for both of us, and the only dispute we had was who’d be Butch Cassidy and who’d be Sundance. All the clichés were ticked: we were up at 6am, riding the range, rounding up the cattle."
Gotta love those boys, eh? Reminds me of a certain picture.....

Oh. I enjoyed the article and really like the picture. I loved hearing Ioan's tales of their time on the Montana ranch. Doesn't sound like Ioan joined Math in the running of the bulls in Pamplona. I sure hope he doesn't even think of joining Matthew in an adventure like that. Adventure's one thing, but Running with the bulls  .
