Annee, who's Griff? :dunno Jamie: Jamie St John Bamber (his mother) Griffith (his father). He uses her mother's surname. :) Her sister is Anastasia GRIFFITH. Hence: Griff And Gruff - Gruff And Griff.

Ooooookaaaayyyyy! Weird, but whatever rocks your boat, I guess!

Weird, but whatever rocks your boat, I guess! Sorry. :( :( :( :( :(

Yes, Jamie was up for the role, but it's clear that Ioan is much more physically like Horatio. Goes without saying that we're all glad they extended Jamie's role, though, eh? I also think that Jamie would have been up for the role, but Ioan perfectly fits the CS Forester's physical description of Horatio and then he went on to prove that he was up for the part not just physically. I am obviously glad that Archie's (and, therefore, Jamie's) presence in the TV series was not as small as it is in the books. Screen adapters were clever in using a minor character to portray the internal conversations that Horatio had with himself in the books.

Screen adapters were clever in using a minor character to portray the internal conversations that Horatio had with himself in the books. Good point, Frances! A job well done, all round!

It was definitely a well done job in casting. Could you seriously consider anyone else in all the roles in HH. Realistically, I know there are other actors who could do a good job, but it is one of those projects that you rarely hear someone say - I would have rather seen so and so as Pellew or Archie or Hornblower or even Matthews. Just ideal casting.

You're right, GG. I also know that there are other actors who could have done a good job, but I think each actor cast for HH roles is right for the role s/he was in. I can't recall ever thinking that I would have rather seen so and so as any of the characters of HH.

Thanks, Annee! More attention for Wales and the Welsh. However, I admit that I've never been able to bring myself to watch and like boxing matches, not even when a boxer from my country was involved or had friends to watch them with.

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-21-2008

Thanks Annee. - I'll just add a little note that the only picture of Ioan is number 9 in the BBC series, so people who don't care about the other pictures can get right to it. I've never been a huge fan of boxing, but my brother-in-law runs a Boxing Club so I've come to learn more about it and actually watch when it's boxers he knows personally or I've become familiar with. It makes it more interesting when you're routing for someone who represents your area, but can't say boxing's my favorite sport to watch.

Shipmate- 04-21-2008

Thank you, Annee. Wow! A really star-studded affair. (Ioan looks gorgeous as usual, but a little tired,to me.) Boxing, for me, has always seemed too brutal. Whenever I watch,I wind up cringing and turning my face away---Ooooooo, owww, too painful!

PS: According to teh majority of the articles about "W", shooting starts today. Well, it is possible (even likely, I'd say) that Ioan is not required on set for the whole length of "W" shooting. However, if "W" actually started filming today and Ioan is to be on set from day one or for the whole length of its filming, the Daily Fiasco article seems to suggest that Ioan showed up at Tao on Friday (18 April) night and Hopkins vs. Calzaghe "Battle of The Planet" Pre-Party and boxing match was on Saturday (19 April), so he may as well be on "W" set today.

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-21-2008

Makes you wonder if Matthew was there with him at the boxing match. Sounds like he had a fun weekend before filming starts if he will actually be filming this week. If he tires himself out, he might look more like Tony Blair as he's too cute otherwise.

Anonymous- 04-21-2008

If he tires himself out FerGi, tiring oneself out is: Looking after ill people Looking after family Setting things for for family <...> Not definitely partying in Vegas. Forgive me, but I would sort of betray My Granny (and many more) if I did not say it. She: Cooked For Her Family Prepared Cheese Looked After: Potatoes, Tomatoes, Beans ... Et Cetera Set Clothes For Her Family Cleaned Her House This Is The Tough Tiring Work, The "Mos Maiorum", The Old Habit. I hope I did not offend you, because it's not really meant.

Frances- 04-21-2008

I guess GG was joking with her comment about Ioan tiring himself out. Annee, I agree with you that partying is supposed to be fun and it is not something that you have to do. However, the Hopkins vs. Calzaghe "Battle of The Planet" Pre-Party and boxing match could be seen as something half way between working and partying, if PR are to be considered part of an actor's job. BTW, who's FerGi?

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-21-2008

Yes, I was joking based on Shipmate's comment about Ioan looking tired in the picture and him being too young to look like Tony Blair.
