Thanks for the Ioan mention, Annee. That is a pretty dress, isn't it? A very becoming color too. Nice to see them enjoying themselves.

Re the Wedi 2007 programme: Our only hope is now that someone puts it on YouTube or something.... :???: I would have really liked to see Matthew. It's not on youtube yet, but the entire program 'Wedi 2007' (50 minutes) is replaying on the S4C website: http://www.s4c.co.uk/e_index.shtml (click Watch Here -> A to Z of content -> Wedi 7) Ioan and Matthew are shown in older interviews - Ioan for 'Amazing Grace' (8:20) and Matthew being interviewed during the filming of the Dylan Thomas film (40:30 and 42:20). I almost didn't recognize him with all those long curls but then I heard the laugh.

Re the Wedi 2007 programme: Ioan and Matthew are shown in older interviews Awww that's disappointing for those who were able to watch it on New Years eve, waiting for them. Mind you, I was a bit suspicious when my Guardian TV guide did a piece on the show and didn't even mention the Taffy Twins :dunno

I got to see the pieces with Matthew. :applaud: I think Matthew looks very nice with those curls actually.

Here are clips of the part of Wedi 2007 with Ioan: Ioan I posted the links to the parts with Matthew Rhys on his thread in the Not Ioans forum.

Thanks Muvidlover and Frances. I enjoy hearing Ioan speak Welsh, just wish I could understand what he was saying  . May have to get Rosetta Stone language tapes  .

StevieT- 01-03-2008

Much appreciated, frances. And I agree, GG - the fact of understanding what he's saying is almost secondary to the beauty of the language! :love2:

Two nice mentions of Ioan and his works: one is for AG, the other for Solomon And Gaenor. There were some diamonds in the rough and unexpected success stories. In their last release together as distribution partners, Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions' historical religious drama "Amazing Grace" picked up a hefty $21.2 million. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/features/film/e3i75b3ecbc7b3e7be92ab1d00e2fc9b6b1?pn=3&imw=Y Wondrous Oblivion By joem18b Morrison's previous film "Solomon and Gaenor" (1999) was a romantic tragedy about a Jewish man (Ioan Gruffudd in an early role) and a Welsh woman. Morrison wrote and directed, and filmed the movie in English, Welsh, and Yiddish. It won prizes and respect. http://www.spout.com/blogs/joem18b/archive/2008/1/8/23634.aspx joem18b Blog - http://www.spout.com/blogs/joem18b/default.aspx

Welshcake chose Maldives for his honeymoon. Thanks to Christian Locke, a product manager for travel company ITC Classics, for this spot. Christian tells us that Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans had to delay their honeymoon due to work commitments after celebrating their nuptials in Los Cabos, Mexico. They spent their honeymoon at One&Only Kanuhura in the Maldives from early December until just after Christmas and were looking very relaxed in the One&Only seaplane lounge at Male airport and sat on the seaplane just behind Christian on the way to the hotel. http://www.celebsonholiday.com/2008/01/ioan-gruffudd-and-alice-evans-1.html

StevieT- 01-14-2008

Oooh, nice choice! (I'm sure they could have found room for me in all the luggage I'm sure they took! )

Frances- 01-14-2008

Nice choice for a honeymoon! (Or any holiday at that) (Perhaps they could have found room for me, too, in their luggage, though it would have turned out to be very heavy )

Gaffer'sGirl- 01-15-2008

I was not familiar with the Maldives. When I looked it up, my first thought was, 'That sunshine sure looks enticing right now, especially since I spent an hour at work outside in the wind and snow. Let me tell you, it was bitter cold out there.

Mention of Ioan and AG and sort of comparison to Longford. I remember seeing the movie "Amazing Grace" in movie theatres at about the same time "Longford" was playing on HBO. And I remember what a contrast there was between the impeccably upright, James Dobson-approved caricature of William Wilberforce played by Ioan Gruffudd in "Amazing Grace" — and the emotionally conflicted yet undeniably courageous character of Longford, who put his reputation on the line to defend someone so routinely called a "monster" in the press and in public that it was hard to imagine anyone humanizing her. Rent it this weekend. http://blogs.kansascity.com/tvbarn/2008/01/longford-even-w.html

Frances- 01-15-2008

I'm not familiar with "Longford" so I don't know how it compares to "Amazing Grace", but I wouldn't define Ioan's portrayal of William Wilberforce a caricature. Thanks for the snippet, Annee.

StevieT- 01-15-2008

I'm not sure I understand this comparison, either. :???: Lord Longford was an eccentric politician who sustained a solid campaign over several years to have Myra Hindley released from prison (she being the 'monster' referred to). With her partner, Ian Brady, she abducted and murdered five children in the 1960s and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. She died not so long ago in prison aged 60.Here's an article summarising the case.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/452614.stm Brady was sent to Broadmoor, a hospital for the criminally insane, and Longford argued that Hindley was under Brady's spell and had now paid for her crimes. Given the fact that she refused for decades to show the police where the body of one of the children was buried, (relenting only when a sniff of parole arose,) and denying his family closure, i think the tag 'monster' fits Hindley as well as anyone. Again, I fail to see the comparison..........
