Well, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Unfortunately, FF and FF2 did not receive enthusiastic reviews from critics. As for me, I don't think Ioan was at his best as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, but he was not as bad as this reviewer says.

It's not my favorite role for him, but I still stand behind enjoying the dance. Of course, I was looking at his face, not so much how stretchy he was. Must say, I found the look on his face rather sexy. Besides, what fun is life without risks. Playing a superhero is a risk. Some work and some don't. Certainly, his career would feel restricted if all he did was period pieces. Then, the critics could rightly criticize him for being a limited actor and I'm pretty sure he would be frustrated and bored to tears. Can't think of many actors who don't want to play a variety of roles, even if they don't work out perfectly.

As a matter of fact, though it is not my favorite role for him, I can understand the appeal the role may have had on Ioan. Besides having the potential to boost his fame, it Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic was a very different role from those he was cast in that far and challenges are fun and, yes, why would you dream of becoming an actor if not to play as wide a variety of characters as possible? Anyway, it is obviously a reviewer's right to criticize an actor's performance in a movie, but I think that it is hard to find an actor who was perfect in each and every role s/he picked.

When you think about it, just look at how MANY different types of roles Ioan has played thus far in his career! They all span quite a range of theatrical territory. And,he's really only getting started,in a way. Still so far yet to go.......all of the roles can't necessarily fit him like a glove ALL the time. He seems to be an actor who doesn't mind taking a few risks to broaden his craft. (GG, I was watching that face of his in the "dance scene",too, and completely agree!)

 Ummm! Uh huh! Ship, got to play that part again.

As I said about this article yet, again, I don't think it's a great role to play :tsk tsk:  but ohhh it is funny, it's cute. After all. Criticism is OK but they exagerate sometimes. :angry2:
