Ioan and Fatherhood
This interview is from this month's Readers Digest (thanks to my good friend, Pat, for pointing it out  ). I find it a rather touching. (Click on the thumbnail and once imageshack opens, click on the image again and you will be able to magnify the text)

Very interesting read! I think it is a quite balanced article and has nice pics going with it. So, thanks Pat for finding it and thanks Stevie for sharing it.

maiden- 02-15-2009

Lovely article! Glad he's getting some press too. Thanks for posting the scans Stevie!!

Sylviane- 02-15-2009

Good article, but I didn't have the impression I read anything new. I hope he sees his wish of becoming a dad come true very soon....

StevieT- 02-15-2009

You're right, it's not news, Syl, apart maybe the discussion on fertility treatment and the personal affect it has. I just preferred the way he (and the interviewer) approached it here.

Havoc- 02-15-2009

Thanks Stevie. A little too much private information again, although I admit liking it, I don't think it's wise. And I don't quite admire him for quitting drinking at certain times. Twere me, I'd just quit drinking for now period. :tsk tsk: Bad me. I feel bad for AEG too, much as I'm not a fan. Ioan, I wouldn't keep on turning down roles. One of them might get you recognized. All that being said, it's a hard period in their life and I wish them to be over it. What's PG?

StevieT- 02-15-2009

All that being said, it's a hard period in their life and I wish them to be over it. Ditto, ditto! What's PG? PG Tips is a very popular brand of tea over here, though I prefer Tetley myself

Stevie, thank Pat for all of us. I enjoyed that article very much. Perhaps just a slightly different perspective on what's already been revealed in previous articles, but that's ok. Since he has been working since he was fourteen, a break is not necessarily a bad thing. It might not be great for his career, but it could mean a lot personally. It can really help in the long run for an actor or creative person to be in touch with where they are at in real life which is hard when you are constantly running from one role to the next. You can lose yourself. I wish them both all the luck in starting a family. It's got to be really hard going through all the medical strain. It's nice to see they are taking the committment as a team. I hope they have results they want.

Yavannie- 02-16-2009

Thank you for posting that, Stevie. I do hope they (I&A) get pregnant soon. I've had several very close friends have to go through the most serious of fertility treatments to start a family and it's heartbreaking to watch from the sidelines. Although I'm happy to say that all of them are now happy parents of wonderful children. But I don't wish a five year wait for anyone, so I'm really hoping Ioan and Alice will get good news in the very near future. It always amuses me when people who interview Ioan start out by describing (in a more or less surprised tone) how he's such a gentleman. It seems almost like they expect that people who've prepped them for the job have been twisting the truth somehow, because there's no way a Hollywood actor could actually be polite. Yay for good manners and excellent upbringing, Ioan! :applaud:

marthe- 02-16-2009

Stevie, it is not so clear for me. But I also have Reader's Digest every month. I will look in it.

StevieT- 02-16-2009

I hope you have it, Marthe, but otherwise, if you click again on the image once you have opened imageshack, further clicks will magnify it for you.

Shipmate- 02-17-2009

My sentiments as well,Frances,-----is it such a rarity that a gentleman can't be found ANYWHERE for an interview? Ioan very much seems a dear-hearted man;and,it only shows once again in this article. My thanks to both Stevie and Pat for posting. Very sweet.

Nicolette- 02-19-2009

Thanks to pat and thank you Stevie. :) Because of my poor connection to the Net I can't download the pictures well so I haven't read the article yet. BUT I did read your comments. Ioan would like to stop his career a bit? Oh no, pleaaase. And I hope he will be a father soon too. :)

StevieT- 02-19-2009

Ioan would like to stop his career a bit? Oh no, pleaaase. Don't panic, Nic! No, I think he is saying he can afford to wait for larger roles while he's concentrating on...ahem...other matters (of course, it's a gamble - the two could turn out to mean the same thing!)
