Two really nice mentions of WelshCake. ********* Hotties and Unicorns... ...what more could a girl ask for? A recent Googling of Ioan Gruffudd shows he's starring in an adaptation of Elizabeth Goudge's The Little White Horse. The film, called The Secret of of Moonacre, follows Maria Mayweather (Dakota Blue Richards), an English orphan in the 1840s who is sent to the crumbling Moonacre Mansion to live with her cousin, Sir Benjamin (Gruffudd). There, she discovers that she is the Moonacre Princess who must, with the help of a stable of mythical beasts, save the ancient estate from disappearing into the sea forever. Ioan is also set to play former British prime minister Tony Blair in W., a biopic on the life and presidency of George W. Bush, which stars Josh Brolin (?!) as Dubya and Thandie Newton as Condoleeza Rice. Finally, Ioan goes the "Touched By An Angel" route in the CBS television pilot "Meant To Be", which features Amy Smart as a dead woman sent back to earth to help people. Gruffudd plays her tour guide and mentor, her "Clarence," if you will. Sounds kind of lame, unless, as her spirtual guru, he's saddled up on a unicorn. That I'd tune in for. ********* http://romancingthetome.blogspot.com/2008/04/hotties-and-unicorns.html Mention of HH. ******** The ship appeared in blockbuster films including Mansfield Park and Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, as well as BBC television series Hornblower, starring Ioan Gruffudd. ******** http://www.thisisdorset.net/mostpopular.var.2224821.mostviewed.movie_star_tall_ship_set_to_sail_from_harbour.php

Ooooo, wouldn't it be fun to take a sail aboard that ship? I'd love it dearly, but would probably get sooooo seasick,I couldn't stand it!!

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-26-2008

I'm with you Ship. I tend to seasickness, even on a large cruiseship, so I'm sure a tall sailing ship would be even worse. I'd have never made it on a long trip in the Age of Sail.

Shipmate- 04-26-2008

Uh-uh,no way. I always get a smile out of the Hornblower episode "The Duchess and the Devil" where she's so sick, and Horatio comes in to invite her to dine!

Watch this LJ! It's really nice. :) http://ioanite.livejournal.com/

Thanks, Annee. This is a nice reminder. I've read the essay by me_richter is nicely written and fun to read. For those who have never read it, it's worth taking a look.

Shipmate- 04-29-2008

I've seen it too,Annee, and it gives a nice rundown of Ioan's work. It's nice for someone who hasn't seen one of his films, and wants a thumbnail review.

I really like this HH blog mention. I hope it's the same for you. http://stevehowellmoviestv.com/?p=51

This blogger has an intriguing take on the Burberry closure affair (including Ioan's involvement) and the Welsh theatre scene in general.... http://perfectway.wordpress.com/2008/05/01/dont-look-back-in-anger/ (scroll down the page)

Frances- 05-02-2008

Interesting blog entry. The take on the Burberry closure affair is, indeed, intriguing. The Welsh theatre scene doesn't sound much different from 'suburban' theatre scenes elsewhere in the world.

Gaffer'sGirl- 05-02-2008

It looks like the play was put on about a week or two before Ioan arrived for the Welsh BAFTAS. Too bad he wsn't there to see it. It probably would have felt a little surreal to see something like that and be mentioned since it happened so recently. Thanks for the find, Stevie. And for yours to Annee.

Shipmate- 05-02-2008

Really enjoyed these posts,Stevie and Annee,.....would love to know Ioan's thoughts on the situation as it stands now, huh?

Nice Ioan Mentions. http://vauxhallvixens.blogspot.com/2008/05/historically-accurate-hottie-of-week.html From My Sister. :) http://stayinginwithvlada.com/2008/05/07/rent-this/ http://moviegoings.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/true-story/

Vauxhall Vixens - I agree that it's hard to get enough of Ioan in costume dramas. He suits them so well. But I would not want to see him limit himself to them. I thought he did an excellent job dealing with the humor in The TV Set, so I would really like to see him do more comedy. Maybe a period comedy - a remake of The Three Musketeers, for instance? Ok I'd take a romantice comedy. too. I couldn't see number two, but agree wholeheartedly with the third blogger's assessment of The TV Set. Nice blogs, Annee.
