I think it would be so nice to go back to a time when men had charm, grace and manners and cared about how they look. I think this is what had always attracted me to Ioan as a person. This is how he seemed to be and it was refreshing and alluring.

Darkhorse, I've often felt that I was born in the wrong century myself. But then, I'm too used to all the modern conveniences of this one!! hee, hee! (Thanks about the avatar, he does look fetching, doesn't he?)

Don't forget the corsets! And all the things women weren't allowed to do! If I was a 19thC nurse, I wouldn't have my kids, because nurses weren't allowed to marry. I get the feling that if I'd lived in that time, I'd have been in so much trouble

You are not alone, ladies! Am I right in thinking that AE's codename for Ioan 'Mr.D' in her articles is short for Mr. Darcy (sure I read it somewhere.....) Ioan would be a natural Mr. D., but I'm in a minority of people who find Keira Knightley intensely annoying. She would have spoilt that pairing for me. I'm sure I missed a good drama, by not watching her version of P&P and I'm sure Mathew will have been lovely (the world is full of Warriors alumni!). Funny, I went to see P&P with a friend who I was sure would like the movie ... she hated it! Absolutely detested the latest rendition (her personal fave is A&E's version with Mr. Firth). She has nothing against Kiera, but she felt she was a horrible choice for Elizabeth. She did like MacFayden's portrayal of Darcy though. His "discomfort" was in character for the role. I rather liked the movie, but my friend loaned me her copy of the A&E version so when it comes time to purchase my own that's the one I'll get.

I used to think Keira was great until she turned into the 'poor little Hollywood girl' whinger. She can act and she can look really pretty sometimes but there was this whole double spread page article in a newspaper here on celebrities who can never seem to be happy. She was one of them; and if there is one thing I hate it's celebrities whinging about how horrible their privileged high lives are. If Moulin Rouge was made again, I'd have Ioan as Christian. Totally, totally agree with you hun!!!!!!!!!!! Don´t get me wrong ladies. Some of you know that I ADORE Ewan, but Ioan is perfect to play Cristian (LOVE the name, haha   ) As for other role.......well, not ecxatly a movie but I would love to see Ioan in acharacter not usual for him like......Dr. HOUSE, Love it!!!!!!!! ;cupid:

Silvia- 11-23-2007

Yes. Hugh is the best!!!!!!!!! No ofense Ioan, haha!

Frances- 11-23-2007

I think that had Ioan auditioned for a role in Dr. House, it would have been Wilson that he would have been competing for.

I think it's one of those times where if you've never seen the A & E version, the movie P & P would appear to be just fine. But for those who have seen the longer and more in depth A & E version with performances that are equal to or better than the movie, it is the prefered version. I'm sure even if Ioan played had played Mr. Darcy so soon after the excellent A & E version that critism would still crop up. My advice to Ioan would be to stay away from remaking a movie that has come out in the previous ten years, maybe even twenty.

Another character for Ioan that I'd like to see is the lead in Prison Break or maybe one of the crime shows as a detective or something.

I think that had Ioan auditioned for a role in Dr. House, it would have been Wilson that he would have been competing for. Oh yes!! A more lovable and friendly character. Great to see you Sil I loved Ewan as Cristian, I love Ewan anyway, but there is something about Ioan that just reminds me of the character of Christian...don't ask me what! Another character for Ioan that I'd like to see is the lead in Prison Break or maybe one of the crime shows as a detective or something. Great to see you too, hun! I think That Ioan reminds us of Christian ´cos he seems to be very sensitive, romantic and galant. Don´t you think?

Gaffer'sGirl- 11-28-2007

Much as I love to watch Johnny Depp and am looking forward to Sweeny Todd. I think Ioan could have done a bang up job in that movie. And after watching the commercial, my first thought was how much better Ioan's singing voice is than Depp. Oh well, one can only hope that he will get the opportunity to really sing in a movie, more than just a portion of a song.

Shipmate- 11-29-2007

Hey GG, Maybe Ioan could sing a lullaby to Baby Franklin in FF3, huh??

StevieT- 11-29-2007

Yes! I totally agree, GG! I watched an interview with Mr. Depp yesterday morning and he said he absolutely dreaded the singing more than anything, and cringed when he saw it for the first time! Ioan would have done a brilliant Sweeney Todd, and it would have put meat on the bones of his repertoire ( ) denis Quilley played the role, when I saw it in the East End. In fact why get Johnny Depp when there are so many British actors capable of such a 'cockney' role (or have they set it in America for the film?) johnny seems to be cornering the market in Cockneys......gorgeous as he is! give the natives a chance, JD!
