Yavannie and girls, I have watched the movie but alone. There were nog subtitles so Andre did not understand it. And the English of the boys is not so good.
So there was plenty of time to enjoy it all alone and to adore Ioan the wonderful actor.
Amazing Grace is a very good movie. As I had to watch and listen very good, I have also admired again the excellent pronunciation of Ioan. His English is so perfect. His performance is so good. I have recognized the facial expression which is so typical for him. Nobody can imitate thos expressions. They give me a warm feeling and also touch me.
This movie has touched me and has opened my eyes how bad the slave trade was. I have a lot of respect for William Wilberforce who pursue his life of service to humanity. There should be more men like Wilberforce, even today. Ioan has brought the life of Wilberforce with so much passion and devotion that you have the feeling that you are in the story. It is a movie that will always stuck in my memory.

I think it's great that the movie made you think about the past - that's what is so important about it. It is an eye opener.
The movie's also not only about the history of slave trade and of Wilberforce of the 19th century, it's also about how we as human beings should care for each other, no matter where or when. Slave trade still exists and that should not be possible in 2008, but it is. And if there ever is anything any of us can do to help stop the modern slave trade, we should do it.
And on a lighter note - I agree with you on Ioan's English. It's an absolute joy to listen to (his voice is also super nice!) and for us non-English speakers it's nice that he's so good at expressing himself clearly.
