I have a new dog
Girls, I have a new dog, his name is Rex and he was born on 5/11/2006. I felt that the time had come for a new dog. Although I think of Roef day and night. So saturday I went to the home for lost animals and I found Rex between so many sad dogs and cats. I am happy that I can give Rex a new home. He was put in the home by people who did not have time for him. It is a sheepdog I think and he is already best friends with us.

That's a fine-looking new friend you have there,Marthe! Congratulations!!! I know he doesn't take the place of Roef, but that's not his job anyway,is it?? He's making his OWN spot in your lives, and looks like he's already proud of it!!!!! Awwwww, good boy,Rex........ :applause: :applause:

I'm glad to hear that you are finally able to find another dog to bring into your family's lives. My Gaff is a pet adoption dog and he is really grateful for it. I'm sure Rex will be, too. No dog can replace your beloved Roef, but Rex will find his own place in your heart and lives.

I'm glad for you too Marthe! :) I'm sorry you have lost your precedent dog, Roef. We get so attached to animals! I understand your sadness. And like Ship and GG just said, no you're not forgetting him with Rex. You have the right, indeed, to give love to other poor animals. :) He is not taking Roef's place in your heart, he is a different, he is another dog you will give love to. We have so much love to give! And that's COOL! Animals like dogs and cats are very sensitive by the way, they NEED humans love. :) And yes I am sure he will be grateful! :) Dogs are not stupid at all, he knows what you just did for him.

Thanks again girls for being happy with me. Yes Frances and Selma, he will never be like Roef, but now I have accepted that Roef has had a very good life and that I have given him everything. And that now I may give my love to another dog. I think Roef in heaven, will be happy for me. Gnat you are right. Rex is a new baby in the family. He is so spoiled just like a little child. Cherry he is indeed very happy with us and we with him. Thank you all.

Been away...
I have an older dog who I love very much, who replaced an old dog whom I loved very much, who replaced an old dog.... You never forget the old friends, but love is amazing the way it can be strong all over again without diminishing the previous love! Long life to your new friend!!!

Yes Snogg, you are right. Rex has become a great friend. It is such a kind dog. He likes to eat with us, he likes to walk and he also likes to sleep in our bed. But he is a bit to tall. And it is like he know it. After 15 minutes he leaves the bedroom (which is downstairs) and walks again to the living-room where he sleeps on a seat. He is also very vigilant. And that is a good thing because our house is standing alone. I got his papers after a week of probation. But the responsable of the home for lost animals, has never doubt about us not taking Rex. He was happy that Rex has found a home. I do not know where Rex lived before they put him in that home. But it is certain that they did not wanted him anymore and that he had to stay all day in the garage. He is also afraid of water, so what did they do with that lovely Rex ? But now he is in good hands, he must no longer be afraid and everybody loves him.

It is incredible how well and how quickly dogs can adapt to homes where they feel loved!

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-26-2008

Marthe, I wondered the same thing when I got my dog, Gaffer. I do know that one family decided they didn't want him and after three days left him in a basket on their front porch for the rescue people to pick up. They did this because he was sneezing. Now he uses sneezes to let me know when he really want something. Poor little guy! It took a little while, but he finally realized he had a home for good with me. It sounds like your Rex has learned he is home. I hope that he will get over his fear of water and knows quickly that he can trust you.
