Natty, Daniel in TGL is a very small part (i didn't realise how small, or I wouldn't have bought it!).The movie is a bout a porn star who set's up her own business trying to catch out cheating husbands/boyfriends after one of her friends asks her to 'test' her fiance. Ioan plays the fiance, who fails the test woefully, as he has a very explicit kind of sex with the main character in his car. His character at first appears very 'Ioanish' but soon falls to temptation, thus proving her theory that no men can be trusted............ i wouln't waste hard-earned pennies on it for Ioan's appearance,, IMHO.

Matthew Rhys is Kevin Walker the gay brother of 5 adult sibs
Hey Sylviane - what kind of a character was Daniel in This Girl's Life?? I've never seen it. ILML - Matthew Rhys is in Brothers and Sisters?? As in the show with Sally Field and Calista Flockhart??? :?: May I..... mm hmmm :dance Yes, he is. And in my heart's opinion, he is the best thing on the show. And Sally is right up there with him. http://ilovemybrothersandsisters.blogspot.com/

Hey Stevie thanks for that. And I won't waste my time if he's only in it for the same time I could sneeze. Not sure how to get a hold of that here in the States anyway. ILML - I can't access your blog for some reason. When I clicked on the link I got "Page Not Found". :?: :?:

GNAT - I'm in the US and I rented This Girl's Life, but I wouldn't buy it. As Stevie said, Ioan has one scene that is very "Ioanish" and then the other is slightly uncomfortably, disappointing. James Woods performance as her father is quite good. The director Ash was considered an up and comer kind of experimental, independent director at the time which may account for Ioan's role. Then again, he may just have wanted to try and break the mold of nice Ioan. Actors take on roles for all different reasons and then are at the mercy of their contract and the director. Gaffer's Girl

Way back in '99 I tuned iinto the first episode of Hornblower. I was very intrigued by this new face...and I was hooked! I've come along way with IG and it was great fun on the previous forum. I'm looking forward to continued fun on the new forum. nancyr

Natty, I caught "This Girl's Life" on The Movie Channel a few months back. If you have any of the premium movie channels, you may want to keep an eye out for it....Maybe it'll be back 'round that way soon.

For me, it was definitely Horatio. I was at my parents' cabin, and my family talked me into watching the first one...which they'd already seen. After that, I couldn't get enough! I was the first to watch "Loyalty" & "Duty" before my parents and sister, when I requested them at the library. I never took any notice of his Titanic character, so I didn't make the connection until I was surfing IOL last year. So after finishing all the HH dvds I finally watched 102 Dalmatians (he's so hott in shorts!! ) and the first half of the Forsyte Saga....lost interest, for obvious reasons. LOL. I saw AG on the day it came out, then took my parents to watch it yesterday afternoon. Brilliant! :thumbs up Still need to rent KA. So....yeah!

...(Ok, so I was just glancing through this thread before heading to bed and I thought maybe I should jump in and maybe clarify something. I noticed, Stevie and Mazee, that you were calling our friend, GNAT, "Natty." I mean I'm totally ok with that, but I just wanted to make sure that you didn't think it was me. I went by NattyKay17 on the old board and, even though GNAT and I are from the same Chicagoland area, we're two different people. :) So if you want to call us both Natty, that's fine. I just wanted you to know! :) Alright.... end thread hyjak-- and I'm off to sleepsvilles, ya'll! )

He told a fan that he took the role as a favor to the director who was/is a friend. Y'know after all I'd read about this one, I actually thought it was pretty tame compared with what I was expecting.

...( I noticed, Stevie and Mazee, that you were calling our friend, GNAT, "Natty." My apologies, Natty! I did mix you two up! Blame the hormones, or the diminishining brain cells. I'll go lie down in a darkened room, now..........(slinks away)

He told a fan that he took the role as a favor to the director who was/is a friend. Y'know after all I'd read about this one, I actually thought it was pretty tame compared with what I was expecting. Well, that's interesting, I wondered if they knew each other from Britain. I agree that the scene is not very explicit compared to other films or what you might think since the movie is about a former porn star. The sex act is more inferred as opposed to showing the specific act. So, the actual footage is pretty tame. It's mostly in the head. Gaffer's Girl

StevieT- 05-08-2007

".....I thought it was pretty tame......" Gaffer'sGirl Yes, I suppose 'explicit' was the wrong word. Sorry if i misled you. What I should have said was 'distasteful' (can I still be a guttermaiden and think certain kinds of sexual situations are distasteful? Please?)

Bonita- 05-08-2007

I haven't gotten to see the movie.... but have been wanting to. Now that it is being said not to waste good money on it.... I guess i am going to have to find it cheap then... LOL

Luckily, I bought this movie used, so it cost me little. I'd call TGL a fastforward movie (apart from a couple of very Ioanish scenes  ) and basically pretty silly. :hmm:

Definately Hornblower! I had seen Ioan in King Arthur and Forsyte Saga and admired him enough to find out his name but that was it. This was probably 4 years ago! Then I recently picked up the HH series from the libary! I had seen it there for maybe a full year and had never really been interested. WELL!! I have just finished watching the series for the 2nd time in the span of 1 month!! LOL I also revisited King Arthure and Forsyte Saga so I could pay attention to Ioan. Hornblower is an AMAZING literary character. I admire Ioan so much for bringing him to the screen. He was perfect in the part and he played it absolute talent and grace. YAY IOAN! :thumbs up
