That is one of the things I like about this area. People still wave at you as you walk down the street even if they don't know you. Kind of reminds me of my few years in small town Indiana as a child. It is nice to see.

Where I live, it's the old-timers who still respond with a smile and a wave as you pass them in the car. Old Southern gentlemen ----- some of them still even wear those great-looking straw hats in the summertime. They look so cute.
Gaffer'sGirl- 05-30-2008
That really does sound charming.
I've only been through that part of the country once and it was in February between blizzards, so I can't say as my memories are ones I want to remember - Icy roads - trucks passing me - having about as much control as a hockey puck - car slipping and sliding. Not a good time for a California girl  .

Nor anyone else for that matter.

Yes that is really something beautiful. That man deserves a good life. I have never seen that.
But I once did it myself. There was a boy in a store, a nice young boy and I saw he was poor and confused. I was so sad that I could cry. Then I have also paid for that boy. It was just before Christmas. And it made me very happy. Sometimes you would like to help people everywhere but that is impossible. And then a little gift makes you happy.

Wow, it is comforting to hear that there are still people capable of kind gestures towards strangers. You can't help everyone, as Marthe as rightly said, but if we were all open to do little gestures of kindness towards others, the world would be a better place.

We have some nice people around here. I don't have any random acts of kindness stories though. I have yet to witness that. Well, there was once when it snowed really hard and mom and me were in our old van and it spun out on the road. We tried to get cell service but living out in the middle of no where doesn't help. So, when I was about go into hysterics because I heard coyotes howling, a cop came by and let me sit in his patrol car because it was so cold. What a kind police officer he was. Then daddio showed up with my brother-in-law and all was well.
Feelings: I'm feeling pretty good. School let out May 22nd, but now I have to take the ACT next weekend :wall: Eh, but all in all, life's pretty good.

This Saturday we have a musical evening in our church. Everyone who's a member of our church and plays an instrument is welcome to participate. I don't play any instruments, but this time you could also join if you wanted to sing a song. I thought about it and it sounded like fun.
Real scary too, but also very exciting. So i signed up and i'm gonna sing Amazing Grace in front of maybe 200 people!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hide

Fantastic HH! It's always great to challenge yourself with something new. What I heard of your voice from the clip you posted, you will have no problem.
Semo- 06-02-2008
Good luck on your ACT, Semo. Are you also taking the SAT? Enjoy your datys out of school.
Thanks! Nah, I'm just taking the ACT. My mom wants me to take it everytime so I can try to do better each time.
Thanks, Shipmate! I hope I do really well

Last night i sang Amazing grace. I wasn't 200 people, maybe 100.
I had a friend who conducted (is that the right word?) me on the piano. It went great!
Everyone said they loved it. That i have such a wonderfull and clear voice and all... :blush2:
I heard somebody say i gave her chills running down her spine. Wow. I just never thought i could do that.
It's kind of overwhelming.
I was so nervous. My hands were ice-cold and my heart was pounding. But hey, i wanted to this myself!
Afterwards they thought i wasn't nervous at all because i looked so selfconfident as if i'd done it 1000 times before.
It was my first time! I don't know if i'll ever do it again though. Maybe. But not anyday soon.
But if i may say so, i'm quite proud of myself :excited:
