:rotf: That's a perfect response, Sylvianne. Maybe I'll use it sometime.
HH- have a great vacation. I understand about searching out summer. We made it into the early 70's a few days, but most of the time we were lucky if we made it into the sixties. I do miss the monotony of a hot California summer. Hopefully, it will still be semi-warm when I go down in the end of October.

"At every wedding my aunt would look at me and say: "When will it be your turn?" untill I got sick and tired of the question. But I found a way to shut her up. I asked her the very same question at a funeral..."
 Perfect response. I must keep it in mind because it may be useful.

Well, look at it this way, Shipmate. Now you are prepared with a good answer. And with the next one uttering that line, yell FIIIYAAAH!!! in your mind and blow them right out of the water. :devil
Thanks about signature :blush2: Cooked it up myself. Stirring

Loved that response, Sylviane! :happy and  to all those who think a man is necessary......reminds me of that old saying "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."
Horatio Hornblower- 09-22-2007
Hahaha! For me that saying could have a whole different meaning, since my last name means 'Fish' in English!

I used to have another badge, back in my feminist teens that said "When God made Man she was only practising."

I thought God was a man...

:applaud: Ladies, thanks, as always, for your words of support.
But for those new here, I am actually a Mum of a 22 yr old but this is my first degree and I am loving it; even more since I am down to 2 papers to go.
I have left the Red Cross shop. I understand that the admin has a lot on her plate with opening of the new store and everything, but lie to my face about something she didnt say to me, and then start yelling at me for asking simple questions that lead to operating the new store - then to start picking trashing my character and personality in front of others - that I wont put up with, so I walked out.
She has only been like this since I had my job interview last Tuesday (no didnt get the job - but way over qualified anyway). When I said 'I quit' she looked happy I feel silly for being manipulated into that posiition, but I wont put up with that kind of behaviour.
But dont worry, I am going to write a letter to the director and let him know the reason why I left.
Gaffer'sGirl- 09-23-2007
Writing a letter sounds like a good idea, Marian. A good manager or administrator should be open to questions about how and why certain things are done.
Frances- 09-24-2007
I also think that writing a letter is a good idea, Marian. You will certainly give food for thought to the Red Cross director: hopefully, your letter will serve to avoid making the mistakes again that had you leave.

My sympathy and support Marian :hug I have heard of similar happenings to do with charity organisations before. my sister in law worked in that sector for many years, both as a volunteer and employee. It seems that there is an unfortunate minority on the management side who seem to think that volunteers are somehow less valuable ten-a-penny, as it were. Now that you're leapfrogging her into paid employment that will recogise your talents, there's probably some envy going on. i think you did the right thing quitting. With your degree, the world is your oyster!

:rotf: Syl!!! I'll have to keep that one in mind.
HH - yes have a wonderful vacation. I'm on my way out myself. I leave Wednesday. I hope to have one more trip into the Zone tomorrow night while at me mudder's. But I can't promise. I hope you all won't forget me!
I'm very fortunate to not have family who bugs and nags me on when I'll meet a guy and get married. I was watching MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING Friday night. I love that movie, but the beginning makes me sad. I am "Frump Girl". Always have been always will be. But at least my family have never made me feel awkward or that I'm "passed my expiration date".
GG - I hear you on the pink wall thing. That was partly why I moved down to Indianapolis a few years back. Not the mecca one would think a young girl would move to while exploring life, but..........it was out of state. Yet close enough to the fam.
Well girls - today's my last day at work and as I said before I'll try getting on here tomorrow but I don't know if I'll get the opportunity. I'm so overwhelmed with crap to do yet. :bricks
Frances- 09-24-2007
In case you don't have the time to visit tomorrow, I'll wish you a HAPPY TRIP TO SICILY, Gnat.
GNAT0629- 09-24-2007
Thanks Frances!!! It's too bad you can't come down and we could meet up some place. :sad
