Hornblower convention
You might want to check out the Horatians convention website .

It would be great to be able to participate in a Hornblower Convention and San Diego is a very nice city. I should seriously start saving money from now, if I wanted to go. I was wondering though, if Horatians have ever thought of organizing another Horatio convention in Europe.

It would be fun to go to a Hornblower Convention after reading about them for years and San Diego would be about the closest to me, but I have far to many travel commitments already made that I'm saving money for, so I know I couldn't afford it. Great location. Thanks for letting us know about it Fishforit.

Yes it would be lovely to go to conventions and meet a lot of interesting people from all over the world thats share the same enthusiasms and love for things related to Ioan. And Hornblower convention would have been nice to visit I think. And since San Diego is mentioned I would love to have gone. There is one more reason - one of my many favorites series Invisible Man were filmed there so it would be double fun. Hornblower and I-Man. And I have heard the there various conventions are held there such as Star Trek (my sister would be the first to go) and Star Wars, LOTR, Comic-con etc.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!! The Rose! I met the guy who built the Rose! Stayed at his B&B this past summer. http://www.newporthousebb.com/hosts.htm (But I think that photo is the Providence, fish ... also built by John.) I'll need to get over to the Horatians ...

Hil, Those ships are majestic and that looks like a wonderful place to visit.

And my list of places to visit gets longer... I wonder if I can visit them all in my lifetime... Ok, I'll put Virginia near the top of the list.

It all sounds like so much fun. Wish I could attend as well. I'll just have to live vicariously through the rest of you who will get to go! It will be something to look forward to hearing about, I'm "certain-sure"!!!!!

How I'd love to go... I see the registration deadline is August, so well anything can happen, right? I'm not letting go of the chance of coming. Maybe I should sell my car it's a horrible wreck anyway :D

What a superb excuse to visit San Diego! I sent a lovely day there once, while holidaying in LA and I'd love to see more. Couple that with the delights of a Hornblower convention and :cloud9: If I hadn't already booked this year's hols (Tunisia) I'd be sorely tempted! Fishie, are they always in the US?, or sometimes closer to (my) home?

Gaffer'sGirl- 01-23-2008

Ohhh! Tunsia! That sounds exotic. Where are you hiding your suitcase? I think they've had some of the conventions in England. From there site it looks like 2005 was in Portsmouth, England. I'm thinking a lot of the people are the same ones who were on the A&E Boards when the Conventions started, but Fishforit probably knows for sure.

Stevie, your holiday booking reminds me of 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole' which is one of my most favourite books of all time (wow, 15 years, that's saying something *rolls eyes*). His girlfriend goes on holidays to Tunisia and he gets really annoyed that everyone he speaks to knows about Tunisia yet he hasn't heard of it. The he gets annoyed because his girlfriend gives the money she was going to buy him a present with, to a beggar on the street. :happy Ah, good memories with that book.

StevieT- 01-23-2008

Oh, yes, Kaitlyn! I remember the Adrian mole reference now  This is my first five star luxury, sans offspring, holiday. I can't wait! :cloud9:
