Hide your mp3s. They are COMING FOR YOU......
But before we get to that, I need kitty prayers for Maiko, my housemate's cat who is going to a special vet tomorrow for surgery consultation. It seems that they caught by accident a condition that causes fluid to leak into her chest, not her lungs, but the chest cavity and if the fluid build up, it will cause congested heart failure. The operation has a very slim success rate. So I am hoping that they, since they caught this condition early, that the operation will be successful. That Maiko will get through it and will be strong and healthy. I don't need to have a heartbroken best friend and housemate with an aweful decission to make and having no Maiko. *sigh*now for the other stuff Well, I had backed up everything from "EMERSON", my old win98SE desktop and was preparing to transfer all of the data to my WinXP laptop and remove big hulking "EMERSON" from my room so that I can be more organized and have deskspace for things...WHEN....out of the blue. I was pwned. ambushed. FUBARed. It was the 4th of July of many four letter words ending in 'K'. And then I learned a new term: Digitial Media Rights Management. They are coming for the rest of you too. I spent most of it acquainting myself with Digitial Media Management Infection or what ever they call it, as it has somehow gotten into my computer and now i can't play any mp3 that iTunes deems as a protected windows media file. It seems this pernicious thing seeped into my Media Player and it coated all my non iTunes mp3s with a code that won't let me play anything it thinks I haven't paid for. I went back and restored my registry from days ago, nope. I can't remove windows media from my computer and I am slightly put out since anything I had on this computer is now tainted. So if you have spent days...weeks putting allllllll your cds on your computer or you were there to witness the birth of Napster--you might just have to do it ALLLLLLLL OOOOOVVVVER AGAIN. Cuz' if it, whatever and however it gets into your computer, if it doesn't find those licenses for mp3s--you can kiss your music collection goodbye. Pirated or not pirated. I was irritated at first. but I had backed up all my mp3s onto cd and instead of using this computer for nearly everything, I will transfer them from the old computer to one of my old mac laptops and use it as a stero. *flips Windows Media Digital Media Fucking Management Dunderhead the FINGER* Then we had food. Hummus. and sparklers!!!!! and lots of peanut butter cups. ....I also regard this as fate's many attempts to tell me I just shouldn't try to get organized. So. Not only do I NOT have a job. They F**KED with my mp3s. Maiko is going to the Vet for dangerous surgery. blah.
