*heavy Sigh*
As I began to tell you all about my housemate's cat -- that her black cat Maiko was not feeling well one day last week and she took the cat to the vet. When they examined her they found fluid in her chest cavity and there was a 1 in 4 shot that an operation would cure it.The build up of the fluid would cause congestive heart failure if it went untreated. They found the illness in its early stages and it may be that she would pull through and the operation would be successful.
Nat took her to a special hospital where the operation would be done.
Unfortunately...when they opened her up they found malignant cancer in her lungs and spleen, the fluid was not only in her chest, but in her stomach and other places. The vet called Nat and told her that he gave Maiko meds and that she would either pull through in the next 10 mins or...not.
Maiko didn't regain conscienceness and died in her sleep around 6:30 this evening.
Nat is naturally very sad. Maiko was about 10 and will be badly missed.
Meera, Nat's other cat is a little confused on where her foster sister has gone and put out by all the strange sobbing, bobbling noises that Nat and I keep making.
Nat's father, who died about 4 years ago, was very fond of Maiko because she would spend every waking moment on his lap while Nat was at work. So for about 10 hours a day, she would be snuggled on his lap. I am quite sure that she went to sleep before the operation and then simply found herself in Dad's lap where he had been waiting for her.
I will miss her since Maiko had been by source of Kitty-love-loves since Mimian passed away.
*heavy sigh again.*
So sorry for you and your roommate, Mimian. It's quite difficult to lose a beloved pet. :hug :hug
I'm sorry to hear about your and your roommate's loss. I'm sure Maiko will be missed. Pets become very much part of their owners' life and it is always sad to lose one.
:hug
I'm sorry for your loss. I know how much it can hurt to lose a pet. :hug
I am quite sure that she went to sleep before the operation and then simply found herself in Dad's lap where he had been waiting for her.
What a beautiful thought. :hug
I am also sorry to hear it. It is very hard to lose a pet you loved so much.
Mimian sorry for your friend's loss. :hug I know how she must feel. Me and my sister had a cat that we named Dummy that we adored and we had lost him many years ago. We had many cats or the ones we took care after him and they are all have their place in our harts. I am sure she will find a comfort in her other cat. They are so loving creatures.
Oh Mim I am really and truly sorry for you and your roommate! It is a little bit of a comfort that she didnt' suffer though right?? It's so sad because for a cat she was relatively young. I'm very sorry and am sending many :hug to you and your roommate!
Sorry for yours and Nat's loss Mim. Maiko sounds like a cool kitteh.
