Have you watched any Frances? Do let us know what you think in the Sharpe thread here in Not Ioans - it has been dormant waaaaay too long! I haven't watched any yet, but I'll share my thoughts about Sharpe as soon as I've managed to watch some episodes (films?).

Ladies, what do you think about this Belgium Hottie ? This month he will be 30. He is our youngest News-anchor and last week he won the contest 'the most clever man of the world'. This contest lasted 7 weeks, with 4 evenings each week. He was already loved but now a lot of young girls and women adore him

Frances- 02-10-2009

Wow, good-looking and clever! It is not hard to understand why women adore him.

I am supposed to be reworking my cv, but I'll stop for a minute and add my 2 cents worth. Yes, I looked at every post - especially the photos. There are some movies that I will see on who the actors are and some of those actors are (in no particular order): Daniel Craig; Clive Owen; He who is not allowed to be Named in this thread; Viggo Mortensen; Sean Bean; Harrison Ford; Michael Praed (1980's Robin of sherwood as "Robin". The series was not the same when Jason Connery took over); Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa and David Hewlett (all Stargate Atalntis); Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver & Stargate SG-1). I know we are not supposed to put links to pictures, but I can't down load a pic of Michael Praed from here http://www.michael-praed.com/index.html or here so that you can see Michael now & when he was in Robin of Sherwood http://www.imdb.com/media/rm464820480/tt0086791 But here is a new face for the list: :thud with hair :secret: without hair :cloud9: growing back

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-11-2009

Yes he is quite attractive, Marthe. Nice that he is smart to boot. Marian - quite a list. A few of the younger ones I'm not familiar with, but Richard Dean Anderson I first set eyes on in the late 0's when he was on the soap opera General Hospital. H was cute back then and has aged nicely, both as a person and an actor.

Thanks GG. I know several women who only stick to 1 actor, then complain there are no 'good' movies to see at the cinema or rent from the video store. As for Robin Hood. For my money, the best tv series was Robin of Sherwood with Michael Praed, and the best movie was Kevin Costner's Prince of Thieves. Now, the story is to be re-done - again!! :angry2: Guess who is to be Robin?? Wait, I'll tell you, but I know you wont believe it - Russel Crowe!! Here is the news from WENN on the imdb.com Blanchett To Take On Miller's Maid Marian Role? 9 February 2009 4:20 AM, PST Aussie Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett is favourite to replace axed actress Sienna Miller in Ridley Scott's forthcoming movie Nottingham. Miller was slated to portray Maid Marian in the new picture alongside Russell Crowe, who will tackle the lead role in the tale of Medieval English outlaw Robin Hood. Miller was dropped early in the film's pre-production stage, but has refused to comment on why she was axed. Now, Nottingham actor Mark Strong has namechecked Blanchett as the perfect star to replace Miller - insisting the film would be complete if moviemaker Scott get the actress to agree to the role. Strong says, "She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it." Nottingham is due to begin filming in England in March. I mean, is he serious??? ;angry:

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-12-2009

I did read about that production, Marian. To my understanding Crowe is not only playing Robin Hood, but the Sheriff also. Personally, I think he'd make a better Sheriff. Actually, "he who is not to mentioned on this thread" would make a great Robin, played with passion, a smile and a twinkle in his eye much like Lancelot. Too bad we aren't Casting Agents.

StevieT- 02-12-2009

I think I read that the portrayals would be slightly different from the norm, with more sympathy towards the sheriff and less for Robin. I did enjoy Michael Praed's time as Robin, but, heck, I'm old enough to remember Richard Greene playing him in the 'sixties! I have to admit to loving the current 'Robin Hoody' take on it, with Jonas Armstrong, but even he is said to be leaving the role next series...... http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/robinhood/

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-12-2009

Much like KA, it's always nice to have a new perspective on an old legend. We shall see how it works out. It think Crowe is an excellent actor, but I worry about ego overwhelming the project a little bit. But we shall see. I was able to watch the series Robin Hood a few times on BBCAmerica and wish I could have seen more. I felt Kevin Costner's version was a bit uneven. I felt like he and Alan Rickman were in two different films. Loved Rickman. Costner- not so much for that role.

I know several women who only stick to 1 actor, then complain there are no 'good' movies to see at the cinema or rent from the video store. I'm not one of those women who only stick to one actor and my problem is that I have too many movies that I'd like to go and see at the cinema or rent from the video store and I would need longer days or weeks, if I had to see them all.

Marian- 02-12-2009

GG - YESS!!! Imagine all the fun we could have if we were casting agents :wall: Stevie - I remember Richard Greene also :cold: He who shall not be named in this thread would make a GREAT Robin Hood. Still can't see Russell Crowe as the Sherriff either, but as both - Oh!! My aching head!!!!!

Marian- 02-12-2009

 Just remembered. the second movie in the Twilght series - New Moon - is to begin production in March and guess what???? there are filming some stuff in Italy. Is Volterra anywhere near Reggio?? and if yes, how many spaces should we reserve at Frances' apartment????

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-12-2009

Vancouver is only about 4-5 hours from me. Didn't you say that was where they were shooting most of New Moon. Canada sure must give great tax incentives.

Marian- 02-15-2009

Yes, Canada does give great tax incentives - and the wages of the crew at the studios can be less that in the US, but this is off set by longer filming hours per day. LOL I am surprised that Frances didnt answer my post above. See Twilight thread for more news on Catherine Harwicke. Dont want to get told of for being OTT here.

Is Volterra anywhere near Reggio?? and if yes, how many spaces should we reserve at Frances' apartment???? I read that New Moon is to film some stuff in Volterra (Tuscany) for a couple of weeks at the beginning of May. Volterra is about 130 miles away from Reggio and it takes about 2 hours to drive from one to the other. I have two beds available, if you want to reserve them. If you'd like to learn about Volterra, here is a good site http://www.comune.volterra.pi.it/english/
