FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL
Ok so I saw this movie over the weekend. If you've seen KNOCKED UP, SUPERBAD or THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, you know the basic formula of a Judd Apatow movie.......which is what this movie was. I haven't seen KNOCKED UP, but I saw SUPERBAD twice in the theaters last year because I swear it's the funniest movie I've ever seen. I've only seen half of THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN and thought was also hysterical. So I wanted to see this movie more for the fact that one of my fave actresses was in it playing Sarah Marshall herself - Kristen Bell. You might have seen her in VERONICA MARS (a show that was on first UPN network then the CW) or on HEROES this last season (before the strike). She's so very pretty and funny and such a sweetheart. Also in this was Mila Kunis from THAT 70'S SHOW. She actually surprised me. I was never a fan of hers on the show, but she was really good in this. And she looked amazing in it. Overall I thought this movie was funny, had a lot of funny parts, it was entertaining and very sweet considering it's a story about a guy who gets his heart broken. It's a "reverse" romantic comedy. It's not quite the sickly sweet rocom that we're all used to where the female gets the dump and has to reinvent herself. This time it's actually told from the prespective of the guy who's been so devoted to his long time (and very famous) girlfriend. There were some sweet moments, but it's still a Judd Apatow movie so it's very raunchy. But it was very funny.........I still think SUPERBAD was the funniest movie ever and definitely funnier than this one. But if you can, go see this cuz it's very entertaining (if you like this sort of humor).
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Superbad. It did have me laughing throughtout most of it. Richard Roeper has said Sarah Marshall is the funniest he's seen in years, so I may try and see it.
Give it a go....like I said, I did laugh a lot. But I definitely laughed more at SUPERBAD than this. I still thought it was really good though.
Well, I did go see it last night and it was quite funny. I'm with you on not thinking it was quite as laugh out loud funny as Superbad, but it had more humor where listening to the lines was important. We had very few people in the audience and a really cr**py theater which took away from the enjoyment, but I'm glad I went.
Well boo for your yucky experience! But yay for enjoying the movie for what it was.
