Ahem, cough, cough! Nice work Agent Sylvianne! Ioans looks a little like Lucas Goldish in this (a few years down the line, maybe? )

Shipmate- 01-17-2009

Agreed,Stevie!!!!! Thanks for posting ,Syl-------I wish we could find out more about THIS film too. I'd really like to see it as well.

Frances- 01-17-2009

Sorry if I'm late thanking you for the screencaps, Sylviane. Ioans looks a little like Lucas Goldish in this (a few years down the line, maybe? ) This was my first thought when I saw the pics. I'd really like to see it as well. I wish the dvd will be out soon or I'll have to go the way Sylviane did. In fact, though "Fireflies in the Garden" was released in Italy, it never reached a theatre near me, so I haven't had the chance to see it yet.

Shipmate- 01-21-2009

I'm really puzzled by this film's distribution. Wonder what on earth happened to it??? Strange...

Gaffer'sGirl- 01-21-2009

Proper distribution is frequently the most difficult part of the filmmaking process, especially when there is private funding. Look at all those films at festivals, most are looking for a distribution deal. Distribution (the connections and making the prints) and marketing are sometimes the most expensive parts on a low budget film and it's hard to book a theater without them.

Shipmate- 01-23-2009

Thanks,I understand better now. I still makes me want to see it though......................

Frances- 01-24-2009

What I see happening around me right now is that theatres increasingly belong to large multiplex cinema chains, whose programming heavily relies on what is offered by large production and distribution companies. However, there also seems to be a revival in small independent cinemas that manage to survive thanks to public funding and it is there that indie movies are shown. Actually, it is in these small theatres that I've seen some of the most interesting movies released of late. Unluckily, though they are distributed, it is easy to miss indie movies because they don't get the same amount of publicity that movies released by the 'major players' in the show business.

Gaffer'sGirl- 01-24-2009

I agree with you, Frances. The same thing happens here. Sometimes a critic will call attention to a "smaller" movie and helps it along. Or on rare occasions, there is just a word of mouth groundswell. It's too bad more chains won't take a chance on an Indy film or that there aren't more Art Theaters around. I tend to love the movies that are more artistic than a typical blockbuster.

I just read a little bit over at ImDB,for what it's worth------US release of "FFitG" is on May 8th,2009. Anybody else hear anything about it???

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-14-2009

Thanks Ship. I look forward to seeng Ioan's part in that regardless of the size, it sounds pivtol to the plot.

Shipmate- 02-17-2009

Yeah, that's what I understand too. Sounds like a really juicy plot from what I've heard so far. Should be good.

Sylviane- 02-22-2009

Just saw the dvd of "Fireflies" is for sale at "Blokker", some big store here in Holland for EUR 14.99. It's marketed as the "new Julia Roberts movie"

Red Admiral- 02-28-2009

I just read a little bit over at ImDB,for what it's worth------US release of "FFitG" is on May 8th,2009. Anybody else hear anything about it??? As you say Ship, there is some info on IMDB 'for what it's worth'. According to the latest update, the USA release date is now 19 June 2009 (Limited)! :???: Still, at least the US is featured on the listing. Looks like the UK is going to be a no-go area (once again)

Shipmate- 03-02-2009

Thank you,Red Admiral. That's rotten news for UK. Maybe later on things will change.

fishforit- 03-02-2009

Don't despair there in the UK! I read Sylviane's note and rushed to the Blokker shop, to buy the DVD. (we are region 2 here as well. So possibly you could order a copy on internet.) Here is a clip from Fireflies in the garden. I accidently removed the sound, so there is no worry for spoilers  . Just play your favorite soundtrack and enjoy one of Ioan's scenes.
