I have the DVD (The Power Cosmic Edition). I just watched it recently. I really liked all of the behind the scenes stuff and of course the movie, while not Shakespeare (neither was it meant to be) was cute and entertaining. This movie was the first time I had really been introduced to Ioan and I know I am not the only one who has been introduced to him in this way so yes Fantastic Four did help his career. And as a side note, am I going blind or have anyone else noticed that the slight scar on the side of his face is gone in the FF movies and in general recently? The scar was on the left side and it looked like a chickenpox scar. The scar was really obvious in Hornblower. Of course, he is still hot either way but I am wondering whether my eyes are failing me at any early age (not that they were all that dependable anyway  ...I have been wearing glasses then later contacts since I was about 8 years old).

It's good to hear that you enjoyed FF2 and the extras on the dvd. Though it is not my favourite Ioan movie, I enjoyed it (my expecting it would be pure entertainment even before I saw it helped in this sense) and liked the behind the scenes stuff, too. I agree with you, ringtones, that there are (many) people who were introduced to Ioan by FF and FF2 and there's nothing wrong for an actor in starring in both entertaining blockbusters and artsy movies. The scar... It's there in Amazing Grace, but I can't recall it in the FF movies: I'll check those movies as soon as possible.

Ringtones and Frances, I was trying to recall if I noticed the scar in AG, but would have to look again. There is a chance he used and injectable for it - one of my brothers did fifteen years ago when he felt self-conscious about a scar. But, there are also several other reasons it might not be noticeable in FF, if he hasn't done anything to correct it are - 1)Heavier make-up - the image for all the actors in FF was very sleek, perfect complexions (I think too much make-up on Jessica Alba) maybe to simulate the comic based origins 2) Lighting - it is amazing what a difference lighting can do with make-up to accentuate or lessen certain features. 3) Lens and Filters - same as above. One of the oldest tricks for female actors was to smear a filter with a bit of vasoline to slightly soften the look. In video, I think all but the oldest professional digital cameras have a feature that adjusts hue and saturation so that facial features and skin are softened so that blemishes don't show as sharply.

(I think too much make-up on Jessica Alba) I agree with you, GG. I daresay that darker hair (as in FF) and no blue contact lenses would have made Jessica Alba's look much better in FF2.

CherryCokeGrl- 12-09-2007

Yes, Jessica did look much more natural in the first FF movie.

StevieT- 12-11-2007

It's my impression, they've tried to make her look more like the comic book character in FF2, but I could be wrong.

Frances- 12-11-2007

You're probably right, Stevie. Actually, I guess that making the characters look 'natural' and 'realistic' was not the filmmakers top priority in the case of FF2, as it is often the case with superheroes movies.

At last the DVD of Fantastic Four 2 is for sale in Belgium since the 12the of March. This morning, as it is weekend, I went to the Shopping Centre to buy the DVD. And I saw that the DVD sold very well. So conclusion there still are people in Belgium who are interested in it and I am glad for it.

Frances- 03-15-2008

It was a long wait for this dvd to come out! I'm happy to hear it is selling well.

Gaffer'sGirl- 03-15-2008

Glad to hear you were able to get the DVD. Let us know what you think when you watch it, Marthe.

StevieT- 03-15-2008

Yeah, can't believe you had to wait that long, marthe! Enjoy!

I think that I got it now why the dvd came out so late in Belgium. In Belgium, FF2 was released in theatres on 8 August, 2007, the same date as in France (where the dvd was also out on 12 March, 2008), so the dvd was released about seven months after the movie came out in theatres, which is not much longer than what people had to wait in other countries where FF2 got its theatrical release in June and on dvd in December.

Yes that is right Frances, but the DVD of King Arthur came out much earlier than this one. And Gaf I will certainly let you know when I have watched it. Perhaps tomorrow because it is going to rain a lot, so it will be Gruffudd-time.

Yes, in fact, it took a bit longer than usual to release FF2 on dvd in France: I seem to recall that KA was out in French theatres in August 2004 and on dvd in February 2005, while FF was out in theatres in July 2005 and on dvd in January 2006. I don't know if it was the same in Belgium.
