Favorite Screencaps/ scenesWe already have favorite pose, now tell me which is your favorite screencapture or scene you have rewinded over and over again, in slow motion, that your DVD's getting burnt in that part and your VHS has already melted...
This came to my mind as I was making a
fanvideo and realized I had the exact same pic as my desktop...
That steaming 'shower gel commercial' looking scene, taken out of context, is so - I already said it :cold shower 1

Should I be worried?

Ooooooooh my, PJ! :cold shower 1 :cold shower 1 :cold shower 1 That's an old Hornblower shot, isn't it? Holy Cow he looks so very.......well you know,...... :cold shower 1 :naughty :naughty ,"delectable"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think your creation would look super as a wallpaper! My GM side is showing!

It is quite a luscious shot, isn't it? And you always do such a nice job making it even more so, Painajainen. :love2: :cold shower 1

That wallpaper I've got there I got from, well it might have been linked back at "the site" Can't remember who made it... It's great :)
And the "shower shot" is from Hornblower:Examination for lieutenant, I forgot to tell that. And the actual deck shower shot in Mutiny isn't that bad either ;)

I keep re-winding the dance scene in The Forsyte Saga and watching it over and over agin it's such a beautiful moment I love the way Ioan dances he looks so gorgeous. Just the way with all the turns it's so romantic and he has that stunning smile of his on his face all the way through the scene.

The infirmary scene in HH-Duchess & Devil. :!: My DVD player has been programmed to this scene so many times that nowadays it switches automatically to it, the moment that I put the DVD in it.

Only one of my favorites is right after Horatio loses his pretty little French girl in "The Wrong War". Awww, I just want to reach out and stroke his hair and put my arms around him and tell him how very, very, very, very, very sorry I am for him.................(But, "Mama" is right here---knowwhatImean?!! ) :naughty :naughty :naughty Also another one is when Archie dies and Horatio sits by his bedside while Archie's image fades softly away!!!!!!!!!! Oh-------Horatio,my dear!!!!!!!! :plotting :naughty

I love all the "suffering" scenes, too (aren't we a sadistic bunch! :happy ) but I think my favorite Horatio (and Ioan) moment is in Mutiny, when Captain Sawyer holds the knife up to his throat and he doesn't flinch, but then swallows hard when Sawyer says "Damn you." This scene perfectly embodies the Hornblower character for me.
BTW, does anyone else think Ioan/Horatio looks totally different in Mutiny/Retribution than in any other of the Hornblower films? There's just something different (and I think "better") about him. The tan? The hair? The perfection of youth becoming man???

While I kind of like the more awkward, innocent look of the duel, he does look more handsome in Mutiny/Retribution, a few times he looks too tan for my liking, but I do like his hair and overall look. I just watched Duty the other day and I don't care for what they did with the front of his hair in that one. The curls are tight without the length of Lancelot curls. Ah curls! A wonderful look when they are just right.

:shock Really? (Now why don't I believe that :happy?)

Now, THIS I believe.
Also another one is when Archie dies and Horatio sits by his bedside while Archie's image fades softly away!!!!!!!!!! Oh-------Horatio,my dear!!!!!!!! :plotting :naughty
:weeping Don't remind me. Still believe 'they' should have squeezed a single tear out of Horatio. :crying Instead he just sits there!
Off course, I know, that poor Horatio totally fell to pieces afterwards only to discover that Archie had been safed by a number of people from Pellew to Sharpe/Maturin/Jack Sparrow/Oldroyd while Archie turned into a vampire/pirate/zombie/artist/doctor who returned to England/moved to America/stayed in Kingston, while Horatio stayed in the navy and do his duty/left the service to become something else... I read all those lovely fanfics and so agree with them. Archie lives on and fortunately most of those get-togethers between HH and AK were 'warm', 'kind' and 'gentle' ... and rated NC-17! :naughty
Sincerely. (if this is at all possible in my current state of mind  ) I try to avoid Retribution exactly because of the dying scene. It always makes me sad to Archie go, but at the same time, I know about the blooper in that scene and it's hard not to pay attention to it and have a fit of giggles! And that would not do justice to Ioan's and Jamie's acting. :???:
Shipmate- 09-02-2007
Please excuse my ignorance, Sylviane, A blooper, you say???????????? Would you mind spilling it for me?!! I LOVE looking for stuff like that! :sailor:
Sylviane- 09-03-2007
Blooper warning:
Are you sure? :???: I usually love bloopers as well, but it really spoils the momentum of Archie's dying, if you know. :???:
But it you are sure you want to know, I'll PM you. (Not everbody likes bloopers. )
Shipmate- 09-03-2007
FIYAAAAAAAAH away, Major, I could stand for a bit of a shake-up!
Sylviane- 09-03-2007
Did you receive my PM? I think something might have gone wrong. I was in a bit of a hurry and I think I may have deleted it in stead of sending it. Food to be made, my mind on Matthew Rhys, trying to answer a Hornblower question... Matthew won, I guess.

Yes, and the cheesy makeup didn't do him any favors, either. It never looked like he was seasick or as thin as Bush had ever seen him or worried about his first real command--just two gashes of shadow on his cheeks.
Here's another "rewind" scene, which I love/hate: Solomon's death scene. For the filmmaking as much as anything. I love the music and last breath and Gaenor's reaction. And tears are so cathartic!
