At first, I thought - a singer, of course. Then, I remembered, Elvis is either a crocodile or alligator. Can't remember which. Glad you like the thread, Selma.
Well I like it a lot!
You are quite right Elvis is a crock or alligator can't remember which either!
And Sesame Street! I learned a lot of English watching it!

Gaff - NOW you've done it!!! "I am a bill, I am only a bill, and I'm sitting her on Capitol Hill" I loved SHR! In fact, I bought the DVD a few years back for my brother and sister. They loved it!!!! That was always on Saturday mornings just before Bugs Bunny.
Selma - oddly enough, I learned a lot of Spanish from SS.

Yeah! Very cute and very memorable lines. My youngest sister used to have it on and I heard them that way.
GNAT0629- 03-28-2008
Hey I learned quite a bit from watching those: the shot heard round the world, was the start of the revolution
About America's war for Independence
The telegraph line song - about the nervous system "And there's a telegraph line, you've got yours and I've got mine. It's called the nervous system"
The Preamble - about the Preamble to the American Constitution
Conjunction Junction - about what else? Conjunctions "Conjunction junction what's your function?"
So many others - great learning tools.

I used to love watching 'Champion the Wonder Horse' on a Saturday morning. And 'Belle and Sebastian' (which was very badly dubbed - German or Swiss, It think....) but the dog was fantastic; a Pyrenean Mountain Dog!
WarriorSelma- 03-28-2008
Speaking of mountain we followed "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams"

It was French, actually. The TV series was an adaptation of a novel by Cécile Aubry and the story is set in the French Alps on the French side of the border between France and Italy.

Oh, yes, Frances! Thanks for correcting my hazy memory. I remember thinking how wonderful it would be to roam those mountains, just me and my beautiful dog.....the English dubbing was bad, though!
Frances- 03-29-2008
Ha, living in a country where films are generally dubbed, I have had my fair share of experience with bad dubbing. There were times when dialogue translation was bad, while there were others where the voices chosen for the actors were inappropriate or unable to reproduce the tones of some scenes.

I was reminded of more over the weekend while at a friend's house:
The Electric Company - HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!! One Mr. Morgan Freeman got his start there.
The Banana Splits - oversized animal suited people hopped up on drugs and doing stupid crap. But hey - ONE BANANA, TWO BANANA, THREE BANANA, FOUR
Shipmate- 03-31-2008
American Bandstand,Anyone??!!
GNAT0629- 03-31-2008
Ah yes Matie - how could I forget American Bandstand. I used to always rock out to that stuff. It's where I got my fly moves from.
Knight Rider and Batman the series were also my faves. Oh and Magnum, P.I.
Shipmate- 03-31-2008
Mmmmmmmmmmm,Tom Selleck,mmmmmmmmm!
GNAT0629- 03-31-2008
And his mustache..............I loved when he was on FRIENDS. I was like "Hey - it's Magnum!"
Oh and yes, we did watch the original BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA series too my friends! I loved me some Starbuck back then!
Gaffer'sGirl- 03-31-2008
My sister was the huge Selleck fan and still is. I liked it, but not near as much.
I liked the original Battlestar, but more for Apollo (Richard Hatch). He played the misunderstood teenager Phillip on All My Children. It was the first season and I got hooked when I was home from school with pneumonia. Must say he's kept his nice looks.
I do remember the Banana Splits being on along with H.R. Pufnstuff. There was also some British show with Bee people -can't remember the name so it will drive me crazy.
