It's difficult for me to say as I don't know the metric system well, but here are two pictures of part of the property. I live in the cottage seen in the top picture. It is next to a barn that doubles as a boxing gym. This field is behind the buildings and a large part of the property.

Wauw Gaff, amazing, I will show this to Andreas (my husband) this evening. I would like to live there. Here in Belgium there are not much areas like that. Or you should live in the south, place called de Ardennen. But Belgium is a small country and they are building more and more. I do not know if in 2020 there will still be a green place in Belgium. I hate that. If I should be able, I moved with the family to a place like yours. It is wonderful.

Well for me I really only have my grandpa and my stepdad. I got a card for my grandpa that I have to mail out. I can never find a good stepdad card though. They actually have more Father's Day cards for godfathers and uncles than they do for stepfathers. And the ones they do have are usually vomit-inducingly mushy. He doesn't really like to celebrate stuff like that anyway. He's a believer in appreciating somebody no matter what day it says on the calendar. Like Mother's Day or Valentine's Day - he doesn't celebrate my mom for who she is because the card stores say to. He'll bring her flowers every now and again on a Wednesday just because he loves her. Poor guy has to work on Father's Day anyway, but hopefully that day won't be anywhere near as bad as it was this past Sunday! :wall:

Happy Father's Day to my dear Dad,one of my best buddies (my Mom is my other best buddy!), and to my brother,Mark. Both of these men are terrific fathers, and nobody can beat them for me!!!! My dad loves good-smelling colognes, will try to get him some of that,I guess. -------------- GG, those are great pictures. Really pretty.

It is a gorgeous place to live and even when it is cold, I appreciate the area's beauty. There are some inconviences and hard to find good jobs, but adjustments have to be made for anywhere you live. Gnat - it's wonderful to hear that you have a much beloved step-father. He does deserve a nice card and it's surprising that they don't offer more step-father cards. I've taken to making my own cards with photographs I've taken, craft store supplies, and then just writing something personal inside. Hope you find a nice way to show him how much you care. Ship - It is a blessing to have living parents close by, isn't it? It's nice to get to get to be friends with them as adults, too.

My sentiments exactly.

My Dad's coming over tomorrow (my daughter's 19th birthday) so it fits in well with Father's Day on Sunday. I'm working the weekend, but as the Old man lives 100 miles away (in the Lake District) it all works out fine!!!

marthe- 06-11-2008

So Stevie you don't see him that much. I wish you a great day with your father and of course a happy birthday to your daughter.

StevieT- 06-11-2008

Thanks Marthe :hug I usually see him every month or so. He's a very fit and wily 87yr old

I join Marthe in wishing your daughter a Happy Birthday, Stevie! Hope you'll enjoy your father's company (what a beautiful region he lives in, BTW!). It is great that at 87 he is still fit enough and willing to travel 100 miles to meet you and his grandchildren.

marthe- 06-11-2008

Indeed Frances what a beautiful region. I have just looked it up. Now I also know this place in England. It is very interesting to know where everybody and their family lives. So I learn a lot of our world and discover places I did not know. Wonderful

The Lake District is a very beautiful place! My parents retired there 25 years ago. My Dad has always been a mountain man - climbing, hiking, ski-ing. As a Welshman, Snowdonia came a close second when they were deciding on a retirement location, (as did the Scottish Highlands for my Mum - a Scot ) but Kendal won out with its excellent library and beautiful landscape.

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-11-2008

Wishing a quick Happy Birthday to your daughter and a great Father's day visit with your Dad, Stevie.

StevieT- 06-11-2008

Aw, thanks everyone! :hug

 With delay: happy birthday to your daughter and happy father's day StevieT. :hug
