Fall Turns To Winter - What's your favorite Season?
Our kaleidoscope of chroma has descended into the dingy, damp of late autumn. In other words, the leaves have fallen and we are now being pummelled by rain and fog. Not cold enough for snow, but jackets required. The dark of evening comes nearly five hours earlier than it does in the summer, so it's very disorienting when the time falls back. I suppose this means winter is quickly on its way. Keeping me inside.
So, what's your favorite season?

Your description sounds very much like NE England, GG. And I would have to say Summer as it's the only remotely warm season we get. I love bright, dry Autumn days, too, but I'm so thin-blooded, I have to vote for Summer (born Sept 3rd, see!)

:hmm: Hard one, because I like to see seasons changing and Christmas and New Year's holidays are one of my favourite times of the year (I was even born on a Christmas morning). However, I love the clothes and the long daylight hours that go with Summer too much, so I'll vote for Summer.

Love the Spring, new refreshing and beautiful with lots of flowers blooming. Mostar is absolutely beautiful in Spring and the days here are warm and sunny unlike in Summer when it is soooo hot. But I love Summer too. Had to choose Spring.

Selma, Spring comes a close second for me because of the flowers. But here we rarely get really warm days until July, so summer won out. We still have flowers in the summer just different ones. And berries, too. Yumm!

Autumn! Without a doubt! The world changing back to colder wheater (I hate those hot, sticky, clothes-hugging summer-days we have here in Holland), the autumn-colors are more beautiful to me, then the summer colors. And it is a sign that my second favorite season is coming. Winter.

I like spring and autumn for the beautiful colors of nature. Spring for the new live in the garden. I do not like summer. Summer in Belgien is either very hot weather which I hate or rain. And winter, well we do not have winters anymore like we used to have when I was a child or a young girl. Then there was snow every year. Then I liked winter. But now always rain. The first week of November we had frost and clear days. I like such days. But most of the winter we have rain, storm, a lot of wind and fog.
If we should have snow one day, which would be a miracle, I will certainly take some pictures of it.
So girls let me also see some nice pics of your favourite season.

I voted spring, but I also love summer. I also love crisp, beautiful early autumn days, when the trees still have their gorgeous colours and well, certain kinds of winter days are the most beautiful thing Finnish seasons can offer. In other words, choosing is very difficult.
But spring it is, because I love the new green colours, the freshness and the smell and feel of air on the firsts days of spring. Gotta love it.
Here are a couple of pics. The first is from last February. Our winter wasn't a very snowy one, but this was one of the few days with snow and sunshine. The second pic is from early May this year. The carnival always comes to town around May Day. This year it already felt like summer, it was very warm and sunny for a week or so.

(I'm sorry the pics are huge - I'm not quite sure how to make them smaller...)

Lovely pics Yavannie, winter is beautiful in Finland.
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-09-2008
Those are quite beautiful, Yavannie. The city picture is gorgeous. I would have expected more snow, thinking of Finland. I love the artistic angles of the second.
Do you use a hosting site like ImageShack? I know it has a feature when you upload that asks if you want to resize your picture for message boards. I'm pretty sure the others do also. If you have any questions, one of us should be able to answer. Frances is very tech savy, as are Stevie and Maiden. I'm so-so, but might be able to help you.

We had really little snow last winter. Besides, Southern Finland usually has more rain than snow during the winter months - hello, climate change. Last winter we had the first snow that stayed on the ground for more than 24 hours in January. Not very typical, no.
I've used Photobucket for these pics, I need to see if I can find some resizing tool there. I'll ask for more tech help, if I can't find anything.

I always use Imageshack.us and I am very satisfied with it.
For the moment there is a big storm coming for this evening and night. Strange autumn.

My vote for favorite season would have to be Autumn. The hot, humid, baking feel of Summer is passed---and the comforting warmth of the autumn sun feels so good on your face this time of year. The trees have been especially pretty this year, and I'll miss all the bright splashes of gold, orange, red, brown and shades aof green against that vivid blue autumnal sky! Does it ever strike any of you that the skies look particularly beautiful during this time of year? Bluer, maybe? I don't know... Anyway,I'm a Fall Fan,and all the things that go with it!!
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-10-2008
We had an exceptionally beautiful Fall this year, too.
Marthe, we're expecting a new storm coming in. We had a wild one a couple days ago, must be it's made its way to your part of the world.
