at the moment i've loving Hornblower, nothing beats him! i 'm studying part by part of Fireships. i luv the scene when he comes in saying "can anyone lend me a clean shirt?" looks so inocent and cute! :love: and the scene imeaditly after when he asks the cook to ion his neckercheif and that smile awwwwwwwwwwww. i must have taken that scene back too many to count. :happy i love the emotional scenes too when he cares so much about bounty's death. " I should have found a way" also the scene when he stands before the examiners and says his name. lol, stammering "hhh..ornblower......................hooraatio" could just wrap my arms around him and clam his lil nerves. can't help but think he needs a womans hands in Hornblower becos there are hardly any. and he looks so confident yet vunerable. :love2: he still looks cute in the sunhat, even though he doesn't get the hint that its out of place lol another scene i was completely flawed with was when he was asking finch to test him. don't ask me why but his facial expressions are everything naive, gentle, and sweet. i have dozens of captures i mean dozens! and enjoy looking at each. I enjoy Fireships, too. I think it is one that is often overlooked, perhaps because Archie isn't in it. The scenes you described are some of my favorite. I do like the way he looks in the sun hat and I think that was the first time the audience really gets to see Ioan's beautiful smile. He doesn't smile much in the first episode and not much in Titanic. When watching the first episode for the first time, I realized I was watching a special performance, but the smile just wrapped it up in a bow. Post your screencaps if you want. Wouldn't mind seeing them.

yes, you have a point Gaffer's girl, he doesn't smile much in Hornblower, always that stern brooding look. thats why when he broke out in that wide smile -it literally lit the room :)

Hornblower does cut a very fine figure in straw hat,that's for sure. I like the scene,too,where Horatio gets caught in the middle of his two superiors' argument toward the end of the film. He looks a combination of bewilderment and aggrivation with both of them. Like,who's the child...who's the grown-up,you know?!

Oh, I've lost one of my fav screen caps on one of my work computers when I retired. I used to use a Horatio Hornblower mailbox when I was teaching Lotus Notes, and I taught people how to put a photo in their sig. The screen cap was of Horatio with his sword in front of his face before he goes through the guantlet. Have to run now, but I'll look in the gallery later.

I like that one Sylviane. His look or his eyes remind me a little of a few looks in Wilde. Which I thought was a small, but fetching role.

Aww, thank you. I was just browsing through the file, looking if I had made the same one as the one Havoc mentioned, but the only one I have from around that moment is this one: I like the determination on his face.
