do you prefer a boy or girl
i just thought i would be an interesting topic to see what people want. i prefer a boy just becos i would like to see another ioan in a male form. plus "he" would carry on the name and line.
However a girl would be interesting. looking pretty hah? half ioan/alice or better full ioan

Heart, you should check out some of the other subjects in this area. We have one where people guess the birthdate, sex and another for name suggestions. You might find that fun.

I honestly have to say that I can't give partiality to either gender. Both little boys OR girls are such a joy and blessing---and so much FUN---how can one really make a difference? I suppose that most men, secretly, would like to have at least one son to carry on the name;but, little girls are very swift to become their "daddy's little girl",too, aren't they?

True, i'll be happy for either, but can't help envisioning a lil ioan running around lol......anyway we'll just see. when is the baby due?

One of each has proved perfect for me.....each brings its own idiosyncratic joys and jeopardy! My guess is, while most parents secretly have a wish for one gender or the other, most just want a healthy child.

That's what my mom has always said, too,Stevie. (That she's glad she got to have one of each.)

My Mom kept having them until she evened it out with four of each.

Yeah,so that means she had eight times the fun, huh? :)

Ship, you are soooo right about "daddy's little girl" thing!
But living in a environment where in some places having a son is a sign of, how should I put it not sounding too much corny, but for the men "scoring" it right is something that make them proud. If you have a girl they always think it is the woman's fault. But that's just like with the older generation. I guess it is like that everywhere, within small rural communities with lack of education.
One of my cousins told me that when he and his wife found out the gender of their child the doctor at first was reluctant of saying anything to him, cause of the situations he previously had with some of the expecting fathers of little girls. When Ermin asked him so what was it he said : "the coffee bean." To those who are not well educated and I guess not clever enough to understand sort of a riddle this would be confusing.
So I too was a coffee bean I suppose.
