Colin Firth
I just watched him tonight in Mamma Mia. Some aspects of the movie I didn't like at all, others I liked very much. One I liked was Colin Firth - not quite Mr. Darcy, but he was funny and sweet at the same time. I must also say he has guts to get in spandex. Quite Funny. Got to say though that Ioan looks much better in his spandex. :naughty Anybody else seen this movie yet?

Gaff - I've been in love with Colin Firth since his turn as Mr. Darcy!!! I was very shocked to find out he signed on to do this movie actually. I've heard very mixed things about it as a whole. I'm interested in seeing it mainly because I've always been a huge fan of ABBA's music. My grandma saw the musical on stage and loved it. But it's not a movie I need to spend $10 for. I'll wait til it comes to DVD then I'll see it. I did, however, hear about the spandex. Haven't seen it, but he was on Regis/Kelly awhile back talking about it.

I had very mixed feelings about it as the singing of some people is of questionable quality. But it's one of those things that catch you up in it. Meryl Streep's rendition of The Winner Takes It All brings new depths to the song. Unless you were with a large audience that's really into the songs, probably renting the DVD is the best.

Thanks for that Gaff. And I have heard too that some of the singing is not quite "Broadway" quality. Kinda makes you wonder why they were chosen???

I wondered about that too in the casting and I suppose they were looking for well known actors. There are not too many well known actors around Meryl Streep's age who are also known as singers. :dunno It might end up being a guilty pleasure movie for some of the numbers. That's where a DVD comes in very handy. Skip to the parts you like.

And yet it's still holding its own at the box office! I heard that there are a lot of people wanting to go see it just to see if Pierce Brosnin can really sing. :happy

I did go see it a second time with my Mom and I liked it better. Maybe I was over the shock of Pierce Brosnan's singing . Dancing Queen struck me even stronger this time. I did still have to overlook some faults, but I enjoyed it more. Could be because there were more people in audience that were enjoying it. :dunno

You know Gaff, sometimes a really good audience around you can make a movie better than what you may think. We had a really good audience when we saw The Dark Knight. And although it was a small audience, we had a good one as well when I saw Get Smart.
