Glad to hear AG was nominated for another award; I hope it will win it.
(It's incredible how many awards are there, most of which I'm not aware of :hammer )
I'm putting this here as I'm not sure we registered the fact at the time, but
Amazing Grace also won a CAMIE award, which Ioan collected in May 2008....

Nice pic too......

MHmmmmmm... French cuffs. That man is such a sexy dresser.
BTW, I used Amazing Grace to end my Brit Lit I syllabus last spring, and it made quite an impression on my students. They'd known about the slave trade from the American point of view, but never from the British point of view, and the movie offered an excellent opportunity for education and discussion. Plus, a week to watch Ioan in class! Bonus for me!
Nice job, Semcato.
That is a great picture, Stevie. Thanks for postig that. I don't remember seeing that before.
Seems that the caption on that photo is a little misleading:
"Ioan Gruffudd admires his 2008 CAMIE award for his starring role in Roadside Attractions and Bristol Bay Productions "Amazing Grace.""
Since the winner for best actor was:
"Mexican actor Eduardo Verastegui was named the best actor for his role in the 2006 movie "Bella," beating out Alice Braga of "I Am Legend," Albert Finney and Ioan Gruffudd of "Amazing Grace," and Forest Whitaker of "The Great Debaters.""
So, Ioan was accepting for the film, not his performance. In the Oscars, it is the producer who gets the award for best film. To me it should be the director. Devid O Selznik won the best picture for Rebecca rather than Sir Alfred Hitchcock who directed.
I'm sure Ioan was there as he was a best actor nominee as well and more local than the Brit cast members, so happy to accept for the film. And he was a great deal of the reason the film was so good.
I think you are quite right about the capton, Havoc. I didn't look at the Camie web page until now. I wonder if the caption writer made a syntax error that created that impression as actiing award wasn't capitalized. Certainly could have been more clearly written. Regardless of the the impression, I do agree that Ioan's excellent performance was greatly responsible for AG getting an award at the Camie's.
Anyway, he does look very handsome in the picture.
That's a great photo and I'd never seen it before. Thanks for posting,Stevie. Yes,Ioan definitely was a major reason for any successes the film has had. I'm sure it was a very proud moment for him to accept on behalf of the nomination.
My apologies for misleading anyone. I agree totally that the film deserved an award and that Ioan was a large part of that.
:The General:
Wonderful :applaud: At last, this lovely film finally gets a well-deserved prize.
I don't think you misled anyone, Stevie. It was the caption on the actual Camie page that was a bit difficult to follow. So, if you read that, it created the impression that Ioan won it.
Regardless, I'm sure it was exciting for Ioan to pick up the award for the film as he put so much into it and was the "face" of the movie. And it's a great pic. :naughty

Twas not blaming you my friend. Was just pointing out the Camie caption, which was just poorly written. Sorry if I implied it was your fault, I had not meant to do that.
Oh, no. It's just my OCD - must be accurate, all the time!
OT - BTW Havoc, did you catch the new pic of Armitage in Gratuitous Hottiness? (I think he deserves his own thread!)
