BHD is shown quite a lot now over here (probably once a month on various channels, especially if you have cable). Party Girl and the BF were watching it last night, when I got in from work - freakily, Ioan was having his convulsion just as I walked through the door! ("Isn't that the guy you like, Mam?" "Uh-hu!" "He's really 'fit' - hahahahahaha!" )
That's usually about the place I stop watching BHD, Stevie. I've never been able to get into it too much. I like many of the actors, but have a hard time telling them all apart with no hair, uniforms and so much grime. So, I watch Ioan and leave it at that.
That's about it for me as well. Just one wartime film I can't get into very much at all,I guess.
I suppose the presence of teenage sons in a household will change the contents of the DVD shelf considerably. We had BHD for ages before I realised Ioan was that guy! Glad to say Warriors is held in just as high regard by said Soldier Boy, who considers it 'awesome'.......I'm not sure it's for the same reasons, though, so I refrain from digging too deeply :???:
Now Warriors while tough to watch, I think is much more effecting than BHD.
That's what I mean. Of course,Ioan is only in BHD for two minutes,so I've never absorbed myself in it,probably the way that I should have. "Warriors" swept me up with it right away somehow.
I think Warriors was such a powerful piece of work, it would have been as effective (just different, if you know what I mean) even with someone else in the role. the writing, the photography, the acting - all of it is deeply effective. Ioan somehow added to that - a perfect bit of casting.
It's a bit difficult to compare an all guns blazing action blockbuster with such a close, understated, personal drama, but I know which I would choose to watch every time, regardless of Ioan....
I have to agree with you, ladies, that Warriors is a much more powerful piece of work than BHD and while I go back to Warriors from time to time (the writing, the photography and the whole cast's acting are just excellent), one viewing of BHD was enough for me.
