Lovely pics! Thanks ladies! GinaP

StevieT- 11-29-2008

I'd love to see pics too, Frances! I always think snow softens a scene, makes it seem more gentle, somehow.... Here we have a very pretty frost this morning, but snow is not forecast :hmm:

Yavannie- 11-29-2008

Our 15+ cm of snow has completely melted away, leaving us with a miserable blackness. I'm not amused. *sigh* Forecasts predict rain and temperatures of about +4 to +5 C. Bah. I want -5 to -10 C and snow!

Frances- 11-30-2008

I'm chiming in to say that I've not forgotten about the pic you asked me to post. I took it taking advantage of a brief sunny spell yesterday morning and now I'm trying to figure out how to transfer the pic from my cell phone to my computer, or better I know how to do it, but I have to recharge the phone first because it seems to refuse to complete the operation with the battery as low as it has now.

Frances- 12-03-2008

I was eventually able to get the pic I took last Saturday in a park near my home into my computer. The pic is terrible, as I took it with my mobile phone and it doesn't really show what the town looked like last Friday when it was snowing, but here it is.

Shipmate- 12-03-2008

Still a very pretty picture,Frances! The sunlight casting those shadows is very beautiful.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-03-2008

It actually looks a little like an impressionistic picture to me, so I really like it. Quite unique in its own way. Thanks for posting.

Frances- 12-03-2008

Looking at the pic again, I have to admit that its low resolution gives it an impressionist feel. So low resolution is not necessarily bad. I'll have to ask my brother to return the digital camera that he borrowed from me a few weeks ago, though.

marthe- 12-04-2008

It certainly looks like an impressionistic picture from Monet. I found one : Don't you think there is a sort of recognition ? Well done Frances  By the way ladies, it is snowing again in Belgium. In the East (Ardennen and Oostkantons) there is a lot of snow, about 50 cm or 20 inch. Seven ski-runs are already open. What a pity that we must work, otherwise we could go there and see some real snow. It is only three hours driving (or perhaps four with the snow) Belgium is such a small country. This are pictures from today, snow and fun in the snow

Yavannie- 12-04-2008

My goodness, Marthe, those pics look like it should look here in Finland now! Instead, it's been raining all week long. Not a spec of snow left from our few snowy days. Waahh. I'm happy you're having such a great winter weather!

marthe- 12-04-2008

Yes Yavannie, that is not normal for Belgium. I agree with you that this is weather for Finland. But I am not so lucky, I live in the West of Belgium and here there was snow and rain and the snow smelt immediately. But the other side of Belgium is lucky to have such a great winter.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-04-2008

We've still not had any snow near us. There has been some in the mountains, but even there not enough to ope the ski slopes. In fact, it hardly feels like winter this year. Last year in November, it rained nearly every day and snowed at least once. Must say my body likes this a bit better, but I do hope we get to see some snow this winter. The pictures look really pretty, Marthe.

Frances- 12-05-2008

Nice pics, Marthe. Don't you think there is a sort of recognition ? Ah, Marthe, you picked one of my favourite paintings in the world... from Monet's water lilies series, where Monet depicted his flower garden in Giverny. I can remember that bridge from when I visited Monet's house.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-05-2008

I would love to visit Monet's house one day. I've always like the Impressionists. Some of my favorite paintings. Some day I'd like to write about Mary Cassett.

Shipmate- 12-05-2008

I've always like the works by Monet very much myself. Your picture,Marthe,DOES remind one of his painting! The others are beautiful as well. they would make great postcards or posters!
