Believe it or not...
... but it snowed last night in my little corner of the world and I woke up to a white landscape this morning. Considered that it's a holiday over here and didn't have to leave my home, I could afford a a child-like joy when seeing a white world out of my window.
We've had about 15-20 cm of snow during the past few days here in Turku. It's gorgeous and I love it!
This is how the world looked on Thursday, seen from my kitchen window. Wind has knocked down some of the snow from the trees since, but to compensate, it's snowed more.

And this is how the world looked like a bit further up North in Jyväskylä on Saturday at 2 pm.

All I'm hoping now is that this white wonderfulness stays with us for as long as possible.
(Marthe, your first pic is priceless!)
Beautiful pics, Ladies! We had a bit of snow at the end of last week, but it was gone in a few hours
Mind you, the bookies are shortening the odds for a white Christmas here, so maybe they know something we don't!
Here 'a white Christmas' is officially classified by one snowflake landing on the roof of the Weather Center in London. How is it classified in other countries (apart from the fact that some of you are buried in snow every year1)
Hehee, Stevie. I'm imagining that one snowflake causing a huge buzz on Christmas Eve at the Weather Center.
The more snow we have at Christmas, the better. It's so much lighter and all the candles and such look so pretty. One of the most beautiful places to visit on Christmas Eve is the cemetery. Here in Finland it's traditional to take candles to the graves of loved ones on Christmas Eve and if there's snow on the ground the thousands of candles make the scenery absolutely breathtaking and very touching.
That does sound beautifully moving, Yavannie!
Lovely pics, ladies! Thanks for sharing.

I didn't know you had a way to officially classify a Christmas as white in the UK. I'll look into whether Christmas is somehow officially classified as white in other countries, too.
Lovely pictures Marthe and Yayvannie. I hope you all enjoy your snow. We have still had none where we are. There has been some in the mountains and we hit below freezing the last few nights, but not a cloud in the sky. Just a skyfull of bright stars because we have very few city lights to block them out.
Last year, we had snow as early as the first few days of November and as late as May with rain almost continually in between. It's so nice to have a reprieve this year. We've had some rain, but also some sunshine. It would be nice to have a White Christmas.
Don't know how we officially call it a White Christmas. When I looked it up, it said that Meteorologists claim it to be a White Christmas when there is one inch of snow on the ground (old or new) on Christmas Day.
It snowed for a total of 5 mins here and then decided to rain cats and dogs for the rest of the day. Oh well.
Thanks ladies. Yavannie, that are very nice pictures of your country. It is such a lovely place.
It is years ago we had a white Christmas. Every year I hear the same song on the radio ' I am dreaming of a white Christmas' but it never snows on Christmas in my area. And I would like it so much, and a lot of snow. Then my family who always visits us with Christmas, will be obliged to stay with us and sleep with us. That is my Christmas wish.
Here a picture from Sunday. It is the daughter of the butcher's shop where I always go. She sends me this picture, because I was to late to take pictures myself, it was already dark. What a fool I am. Perhaps it will not snow anymore this winter, and the 'clever' Marthe forget to take pictures. Aai aai aai ;angry:

Marthe - a snow in happened to me back in 1996. This area gets snow maybe once or twice a year and sometimes not at all. I came to visit and said I was hoping for a White Christmas. I was scheduled to leave a few days after Christmas. My Mom said there was no snow in the forecast for the whole week I was there. Then, out of the blue, a day before I was supposed to leave, it dumped about six inches of snow. The two hour drive to the airport became eight hours. So, I rescheduled by flight which turned out to be a good thing. We got another six inches or so. We couldn't get out of the house for several days. I ended up extending my visit and celebrating a White New Year with my family. Hope you get a chance to spend some nice time with your family this year. I wish that for all the IZers.
Aren't all of the pictures beautiful?! Love looking at them so much. No snow at all here. We generally don't get too much anyway where I live, but have a few inches scattered about during the winter season. It's pretty......but I'm not a snow-person! I'm originally from Northwestern Ohio, and the winters there can be quite brutal. So,I don't miss the shovelling, sliding, stuck cars, heavy clothing, cold skin,etc.,etc.,etc...... at ALL!!!!!
And here it's snowing again and more snow is expected over the weekend.
If it were not that it took me two hours to get back home from a client's office today (whereas it usually takes me 20 minutes to cover that same distance), I'd like this weather and my home town looks beautiful in white.
Oh that is great Frances, do you take a picture for your Ioanzone-sisters ?
I'll go take pictures tomorrow (today, actually, since it's almost 1.30 am here) morning.
