Amazing Grace: just how historically accurate was it?
http://www.stfrancis.edu/historyinthemovies/index.htm "This site is for everyone who loves historical films: epics, biopics, period pieces, and true-life stories, but who also wants to know: Did it really happen that way? Cathy Schultz is a history professor at the University of St. Francis in Illinois, and writes the syndicated column, History in the Movies, which has been featured on NPR.org and reaches over a million readers in newspapers nationally. On this site, you'll find her commentary on the accuracy of recently released (2004 -2007) films, her thoughts on upcoming ones...." Good find, Lori: thanks for sharing! I'm glad to know that they did not change history that much for the sake of dramatization and that AG is overall true to life.

Well, I've got a new favorite marked at least until I've read all the reviews. Great find and a lot of fun. Thanks, Lori. They are short, sweet and to the point. GG

Here from Asbury College is a short documentary about William Wilberforce and his struggle to end slavery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzDlVq3Gg4I I believe I read on the Amazing Grace movie website a couple months ago that the professor on this documentary was a historian used for the making of Amazing Grace. The quotes that were used in the movie by Wilber in the House of Commons are said to be taken directly from the words that were written down as records of those sessions. The man who gave the tribute speech to William Wilberforce about the different way of celebrating heroes of war and heroes of peace was a different man than in the movie.

Nice pics, nice locations. Thanks for sharing, fishforit. Now I'd like to take a trip to the UK... when is the next flight to get there?

Thank you fishforit and your friend at Horatians. The pictures are fantastic. I can visualize the scenes from the movie. It would be great to have the opportunity to go there some day.
