Amazing Grace DVD release?

Well I'm going to pre-order AG as soon as I get my debit card back. My dad confiscated it for no reason, but it's no big deal. I'll live... I wonder if the DVD pre-ordering thing is the reason why they haven't taken the poster off my local bus yet. The movie hasn't been in the cinemas around me for weeks now. Either that or they're extremely lazy. Doesn't stop me gazing at it though :wink:

Well, the sites where I found out it is already possible to pre-order AG state the dvd will be out in late July or early August (30 July and 6 August, to be precise), so there is no hurry. I'm not going to pre-order AG until we know what special features are going to be available on R1 and 2. I don't want to buy one and then find out a different region has better features.

I agree, ricki. In my experience, pre-ordering is a waste of time, as there are always plenty of copies available, anyway (just thinking of Harry Potter, which was much more in demand) Unless they only distibute a small amount, in which case.....

To be honest, I'm planning to wait till the dvd is actually released before ordering it, too, so that I'll be able to see which version (region 1 or region 2) has the better special features (if any). Plus, the only time I pre-ordered a dvd, I discovered that my pre-order had been cancelled (for no apparent reason) and I had to place the order again.

I checked the official movie site for AG and it says it will be released later this year. It doesnt give an actual date though.

I'm not sure if the AG movie site has been updated for months. According to http://www.wilberforce2007.com/index.php?/news/story/amazing_grace_dvd_release_date_set/ the rental date is July 23, and the general availability is August 6. But something tells me not to be holding my breath.

Thanks for the alert, Hilary. AG movie American site just says that the dvd will be released later this year, the Irish site states it will be available from November 13, while nothing is there on the UK site. It's really a wait and see situation.

some places are saying December, but I think that's too long. If it is December, then there better be A LOT of things on the DVD to make us wait so long for it. I'm mean it's torcher just waiting for it as it is.

Given that the average wait for dvd to be released is 3 to 6 months from when movies are out in theatres, I've always expected that AG dvd to be released by the end of September, but if we have to wait longer, then there better be a lot of things of the dvd to make the wait worthwhile, indeed. I'm very anxious to buy a copy, too, as I did not have the opportunity to see AG in a theatre.
