Hope you feel better really soon Gaffer'sGirl! In fact it must be going around because I'm sick along with my whole family. I guess it's this time of year. I haven't even watched my copy of AG yet because I have been so tired from all the cold medicine & when I'm up I need to get other stuff done. Oh well... It will be fun to watch when I can actually breath again, hehe :)
StevieT- 11-14-2007
CC, I'm not even going to begin to imagine why you have to "breathe" to watch Ioan! :blush2:
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-14-2007
Hey Cherry, I can sympathize and hope you feel better soon. I actually got my copy of AG while I was out getting more cold supplies today. So, I'm pinning new curtains I'm making while I'm watching it with the commentary of Michael Apted and Ioan. While no comments have been made regarding this and may just be my imagination - Ioan has had a husky cough a few times and sounds a little nasally almost as if he is recovering from a cold. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just a fevered delusion?
StevieT- 11-15-2007
Interesting you should say that, GG! I thought the same when I last watched a few weeks ago (no, I'm not rubbing it in!) I've had the impression over the years that he often gets 'under the weather' and washed out. Methinks the boy does not look after himself and is not treating 'our' body with the respect it deserves!

When I watched the commentary and thought Ioan looked and sounded tired or as if he was recovering from the cold.
It is comforting that I am not the only one who had this impression. So I'm not going crazy, after all.
Shipmate- 11-15-2007
Watched the commentary last night, which was if possible, almost as good as the film itself. I think you ladies are right about the hints of raspy huskiness in his voice, and especially when he laughs a few times. Did I read someplace where he was pretty ill the day that he sang "Amazing Grace", or did I dream that ----so that I could "play nurse" in my dreams? :nurse Either way, take care of yourself, Wilber! :nurse :naughty
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-15-2007
So, I wasn't crazy either. And yes, it appeared on his delightful laughs in particular.
I've had the impression over the years that he often gets 'under the weather' and washed out. Methinks the boy does not look after himself and is not treating 'our' body with the respect it deserves!
I think you're right. He's mentioned a number of times about having allergies. From personal experience, I've learned you have to be more careful with taking care of yourself when you do or colds, etc get worse.
And yes Shipmate, the :nurse instincts in all of us seem to come out at those moments, especially in our esteemed and official :nurse head. Off to the Alley, ladies.

I watched the commentary on the DVD and it was so great
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-26-2007
Jeepy - I seem to enjoy a movie even more after listening to the commentaries, but I found AG's especially entertaining. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, too.
Frances- 11-27-2007
Personally, I chose to watch the commentaries after I had watched the movie for the first time so as not to influenced by them, but the commentaries had me re-watch AG and enjoy it even more. I'm glad you enjoyed it, too, Robyne.
Shipmate- 11-27-2007
Yes, the commentaries are great fun to watch, afterward, for me too. I always learn so much from them!!
