Amazing Grace back in the theater!!!
Our 2 local theaters are holding an encore film festival that starts Aug. 31st and goes through Oct. 4th!! They are gonna be showing their top 20 movies (of the last few months) on the BIG screen again for $5 a ticket!! Just to name a few: Amazing Grace, Flyboys (I LOVE that movie as well), The Queen, Shall we dance, The painted veil, Devil wears Prada, RV, Little miss sunshine, Miss potter etc. I was sooo incredibly excited when I got their movie listing/updates this morning!! :mrgreen: YAY!! I was so upset about having to wait till at least Dec. for the DVD release of AG here in the states & when I read this it made me so happy that I can now have another chance to see Ioan :love: in AG on the BIG screen again!! Wahoo! Sorry just a little too excited so I had to share, LOL :applaud:

:mrgreen: :applaud: Guess I'm joining Shipmate in the green with envy catagory, but also quite happy for you. I wish the art theater in Port Townsend would do the same. Or that it would even play in Port Angeles which is much closer. It never made it that far. I'm finding it difficult to wait until December also. GG

Your so lucky to get to see AG in the theaters again. There's nothing better than seeing a movie like that on the big screen.

Wahoo! Sorry just a little too excited so I had to share, LOL :applaud: Okay, the theater saved Amazing Grace for the last week of the film festival. It is running 9/28 - 10/4. Sarah and I went and saw it yesterday and it was so good to see once more, especially on the big screen. It was just as amazing as watching it the first time. We did have to wait 30 minutes because the projector was having trouble. But we weren't going to leave, haha. And it was sooo funny! At the end of the movie when they start showing credits, they have the pictures of the actors along with their names. Well, Ioan's comes up and I heard this lady say out loud in the back of the room, "He was terrific, but who is he? Huh, never heard of him before." I just laughed because that is what I thought when I first saw this movie. I had no idea who Ioan was, but the movie inspired me so much and I fell in love with it, I came home and googled Ioan and well... here I am - a huge Ioan fan!! :love: ;cupid:

Robyne, I'm happy to hear you and Sarah were able to see and enjoy AG on the big screen again. Hope that the lady who sounded so impressed by Ioan's performance will take the time to find out more about him.

It's so nice to hear how well you enjoyed the film, Jeepy!!!! Ioan is so good in the role. I got a kick out of the lady's comment......but it is a bit regrettable that he's not getting the recognition that he deserves. Maybe "good things come to those who wait",huh?

I sure hope he gets some awards for his role in AG!! I also hope Ioan gets some awards for his role as William Wilberforce. It still amazes me how they were able to make Ioan look so much older... the wonders of makeup & cameras, LOL! Well, we now have an idea of how he will look when he is older... still pretty charming, I think. :wink:

Jeep and Cherry, You are so fortunate to get to see AG again, especially with a fresh audience. Doesn't it feel like you are in on some special secret that you know what a great actor Ioan is? Of course, we'd all love to see him win an award, but even several nominations for awards could be a boost for his career. Between AG and The TV Set maybe he'll get some.

What a lovely opportunity! Wish our theaters would do something like that. A few weeks ago I saw a preview for AG on another DVD. I wasn't expecting it, and a few seconds into it I was in tears. I wondered if after 10 theater viewings and all these months it would still have the power to move my heart. Guess that answers that! Lori
