Agent Crush - SPOILERS MIGHT BE FOUND
Something very similar has almost surely been posted on IO. It seems to me as if we did not have it here, so I posted it. News - 16-05-07 Sir Roger Moore to provide voice for new cartoon spy film `Agent Crush` Ioan Gruffudd and fiance Alice Evans are teaming up with ex-007 star Roger Moore to provide voices for a new cartoon spy film - reports icWales. Fantastic Four star Ioan is to be the voice of Agent Crush - a new Hollywood flick about the adventures of a James Bond-like secret agent. A host of other Brits have been lined up, including Brian Blessed, Ruby Wax, Rula Lenska and impressionist Jon Culshaw. Sir Roger Moore will voice the character of Burt Gasket (a parody of an 'M' type character) It is two hundred years into the future, much has changed, but one thing remains a constant, crime and it's getting a little bizarre. Boris Goudphater ("Good-farter") is a first prototype cyborg developed by the World Security Network (WSN) to combat crime. The experiment failed due to a dangerous defect. Goudphater manages to survive the de-commissioning process and escapes. Horribly disfigured and angry, he is at large and out for revenge. Agent Crush is a second prototype cyborg, and is trying to prove himself as a secret agent. Crush has been furnished with all types of superhero gadgets but he is prone to bumbling accidents and causes havoc wherever he goes. Accompanied by his genius inventor sidekick, Spanners and Spanner's daughter Cassie, his la-*test*-('") mission is to stop Goudphater from exploding a nuclear device in the center of the Earth's magma core and causing every volcano to erupt, destroying the Earth. A spectacular flying car chase through the streets of New York and the underground lava caverns leads to an explosive climax. Can Crush prove to the world that he is the man for the job and save the Earth in time? http://www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=5021&catid=3 The Moore the merrier for Ioan May 13 2007 Marc Baker, Wales on Sunday IOAN Gruffudd and fiance Alice Evans are teaming up with ex-007 star Roger Moore to provide voices for a new cartoon spy film. Meanwhile, Cardiff-born Ioan is also looking forward to starring alongside Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts in the forthcoming flick Fireflies In The Garden. But despite starring opposite one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, it seems Ioan would rather opt for our own Dame Helen Mirren. Ioan said: "Helen Mirren is my secret crush. She's very hot and looks like she wouldn't take any nonsense. I love that." http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0900entertainment/0050artsnews/tm_method=full%26objectid=19096716%26siteid=50082-name_page.html

Animated film seeks Cannes interest Two brothers have taken their small budget animatronics film to the Cannes Film Festival. Sean Robinson, 42, a former bricklayer, and Barrie, 37, a former transport manager, have been working on Agent Crush for three years. The pair, originally from Sunderland, managed to persuade star names like Sir Roger Moore, Ruby Wax, Brian Cox, Brian Blessed, Jon Culshaw and Ioan Gruffudd to voice characters in the children's film. Now they are showing the movie to buyers in the south of France. The creators of Agent Crush use traditional motion picture techniques, which they believe can compete with big budget CGI films. They have revived the classic art of rod puppeteering, with their sophisticated creations controlled by operators from under the set. Sean moved into the special effects industry after giving up his bricklaying job and used to work with Thunderbirds legend Derek Meddings. Agent Crush is his first work as director. Barrie, the film's producer, worked as a transport manager at Royal Mail before setting up a production company with his brother in 1999. Barrie, who lives in Putney, south west London, said: "It's been a real rollercoaster ride from the start to sitting here now. We've been through so many emotions to get here." The team managed to get private funding to make the film, and are now in the south of France to secure distribution deals. http://www.thelondonpaper.com/cs/Satellite/london/breakingnews/article/1157203657130?packedargs=suffix%3DBreakingNews

Thanks for posting this, annee  There's been several articles about this lurking around Google news actually. I just hope they get a distribution deal. I've got one general question though about the film: what's rod puppeteering?

StevieT- 05-21-2007

Using puppets on rods. :hammer Sorry, couldn't resist, but it's true.......

Thanks for these articles, Annee. (Sorry, slowly making my way around the forum to see what I have missed.) So, Agent Crush isn't based on anything, is that right? It's not an existing comic book or "character" of some form, but is new for this movie? Sounds like the film-makers are really living their dream. And I think it's fun that Ioan and AE get to work together again. FloMo

Whilst searching round on the internet I came across the Agent Crush website http://www.agentcrush.com/page.php?23 the link leads to a prview trailer with the making of the film and some interviews. I watched it and found the sound didn't work near the beginning but it's still worth a watch. I hope this is ok to post

Um....it looks shocking! Thanks for the articles and the clips but I think it looks terrible. Not my thing at all.

StevieT- 07-14-2007

Good link, Alex! i think it looks quite funny. That's got to be Brian Blessed's voice as the villain, hasn't it? i just love him - he's so full of everything!

JeepGirl83- 07-14-2007

Um....it looks shocking! Thanks for the articles and the clips but I think it looks terrible. Not my thing at all. It definitely looks "unique." To me, Ioan doesn't even sound like himself. Should be interesting for sure.

Shipmate- 07-14-2007

Uh............saw the clip, but I don't have sound, so don't get the full effect,...........but I don't know about this one!!!!!! The jury is definitely out on it for a good long while :?: :?: :?: ........................
